Hoch Needs No Showdown

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Paul Hoch
Paul Hoch

A small pile of chips was in the middle with three-handed action on a flop of {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. The small blind led out for 2,000 and the big blind folded, sending action onto Paul Hoch in early position. Hoch called.

The small blind bet another 2,000 on the turn {2-Hearts} and Hoch called again, bringing the river {j-Hearts}. The small blind then checked, prompting Hoch to make a bet of 800. Such a bet proved to be more than the small blind wished to call, and Hoch took down the pot without showdown.

Gonzales Gets a Fold of the "Second Nuts"

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Danny Gonzales
Danny Gonzales

A little over 10,000 was in the middle on a completed board of {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and action was heads up between Danny Gonzales in the big blind and an opponent on the button. Gonzales bet 15,000, sending his opponent into the tank for over two minutes.

"I'm almost there," said the player on the button.

"Take your time, buddy," said Gonzales, looking up to the player.

"I have the second nuts," the player responded. "The question is, do you have a flush?"

"I've got to fold," said the player, showing {6-Spades}{5-Spades} for the straight. The table laughed light-heartedly, expecting to see {k-Clubs}.

"What I meant was, I have the nuts if he didn't have a flush," the player corrected.

"Do you want to see?" asked Gonzales to his opponent, who declined to result in Gonzales sending his cards to the dealer face-down in exchange for the pot.

Maher Shows Two Bullets

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Sean Maher
Sean Maher

Sean Maher opened in middle position and received a call from Caleb Meyer in the cutoff. The big blind also came along, taking postflop action three ways.

The flop dropped {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and two checks put action onto Meyer, who bet 3,000. The big blind folded and Maher called, bringing the turn {9-Spades} where both players checked.

The river fell {a-Clubs} and Maher reached for chips, tossing 4,500 into the middle. Meyer immediately called.

Maher showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for a rivered set of aces and Meyer appeared ready to muck, ultimately sending his {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} onto the table.

Pineda Cages Meyer

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Pat Pineda
Pat Pineda

Pat Pineda open-limped in the cutoff and Sean Maher raised to 2,800 on the button. The small blind called and Caleb Meyer three-bet to 9,000 in the big blind.

Pineda thought for a bit and then put in chips to call, sending Maher into the tank for over a minute before folding. The small blind folded behind and action went heads up to the flop {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, where Meyer jammed for a less than a pot-sized bet and Pineda immediately announced a call.

Meyer slammed down {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} upon seeing Pineda's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and found no help as the runout finished {j-Hearts}{k-Spades} to give Pineda a full house and eliminate Meyer from the tournament.

Keeline Delivers a Cooler

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Ben Keeline
Ben Keeline

A commotion was overheard coming from Table 14 as Ben Keeline and the player on his direct right were involved in an all-in scenario that sent Keeline's opponent to the rail in a chilling fashion. Keeline's cards {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} were still displayed on a board reading {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{8-Clubs}, hitting a full house on the river.

According to Keeline, he called the player's hijack open from the cutoff and went heads up to the flop, where he called a continuation-bet for smaller than the original raise size. The player continued for 9,000 on the turn and Keeline raised all in after hitting two pair, with a call being made.

Keeline's opponent had flopped two pair with {a-}{j-} and was in great shape for the double, needing to fade the four outer against Keeline's queens up. Unfortunately, those queens up became eights full when all was said and done and Keeline took down the pot as a result.
