Tahsildar Busts To Bring About Final Three Tables

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Hassan Tahsildar
Hassan Tahsildar

Dan Mingus opened to 22,000 in the hijack and Hassan Tahsildar re-jammed on the button for around 80,000. Mingus called.

Dan Mingus: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Hassan Tahsildar: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The two players traded each other's outs on the flop {9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, with a running {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} changing nothing thereafter to result in Tahsildar bowing out in 28th place.

With 27 players remaining, the tournament clock has been stopped to redraw for new seats. An updated seat draw and list of chip counts will be provided shortly.

Two More Bust Outs Take Tournament Two from the Money

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Sean Maher
Sean Maher

The seats that Stephen Driggers and Sergio Ruiz quickly became vacant after the final four tables of the tournament were reached. Tablemates Jason Vanstrom and Sean Maher filled in the details as to what went down.

Firstly, Driggers open-jammed for around 80,000 with {8-}{8-} and ran it into the {10-}{10-} of Matt Livingston. Driggers spiked an eight on {8-}{k-}{j-} but running {k-}{k-} counterfeited his boat and sent him packing.

On a later hand, Vanstrom opened in the cutoff and received three calls behind from Ruiz on the button, Maher in the small blind, and Al Hart in the big blind.

Action checked to Vanstrom and he continuation-bet on {k-}{q-}{10-} with Ruiz jamming over the top. Maher called and Vanstrom folded {a-}{k-}.

Sergio Ruiz: {k-}{k-}
Sean Maher: {a-}{j-}

Maher's flopped nuts were ahead of Ruiz's top set and the board remained unpaired through the final two cards of the runout.

Keeline Doubles, Aweida and Dodson Ousted

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ben Keeline
Ben Keeline

Rocco Palumbo opened in middle position and action folded around to Ben Keeline, who re-jammed for 65,000 in the big blind. Palumbo called.

Ben Keeline: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Rocco Palumbo: {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Palumbo hit top pair on {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades} but Keeline picked up additional outs on the turn {j-Clubs}. His backdoor gutter completed on the river {10-Diamonds} and he stayed alive, scoring the double as a result.

"Crazy turn," said Palumbo with a smile as he sent the requisite amount Keeline's way.

Moments earlier, Ryan Dodson was eliminated by Jason Dennis on the same table after Dodson open-jammed on the button and Dennis called in the big blind.

Ryan Dodson: {q-}{10-}
Jason Dennis: {a-}{a-}

Dennis flopped a set and improved to a full house on the turn, leaving Dodson drawing dead to the river to end his afternoon.

Sammy Aweida was also eliminated at the same time on an adjacent table, and 38 players now remain. Seven more eliminations are needed for the tournament to make it into the money.

Frei First to Fall

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Steve Wilkie
Steve Wilkie

Aaron Frei was the first player eliminated on the day, getting into an all-in preflop situation with Steve Wilkie. Frei opened on the button to 10,000 and Wilkie three-bet to 35,000 in the big blind. Frei four-bet jammed for just under 200,000 and Wilkie quickly called.

Frei's pocket sevens were shown two aces from Wilkie and he was unable to catch any help on the runout. Wilkie now has over 750,000 in the opening minutes of play in the day.

Welcome To Day 2 of the 2021 Colorado Poker Championship $1,450 Main Event

Bally's Black Hawk
Bally's Black Hawk

Day 2 of the Bally's Black Hawk 2021 Colorado Poker Championship (CPC) $1,450 Main Event is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time with 47 players returning and having their sights set on making the final table. Three starting flights drew 307 entries and generated a total prize pool of $389,276 set to be paid out to the top 31 finishers. A full day of poker is on the books, as 47 will play down to nine before returning for the final table on Monday's Day 3.

Rocco Palumbo (554,500), Day 1a's chip leader, saw nobody catch him on the following two flights, and he will enter the day atop the counts with Day 1b chip leader Mike Kenny (546,000) following closely behind. Steve Wilkie (504,00) also comes into the day with a stack of above 500,000,

Others coming in with above-average stacks include Day 1c chip leader Jason Vanstrom (305,000), Jorden Helstern (265,500), last month's MSPT Black Hawk runner up Tyler Potts (213,500), and Ryan Dodson (201,000).

Play will resume with 7:35 remaining in Level 14 (2,000/4,000/4,000), the stopping point on all three Day 1 flights. Upon the beginning of Level 15, blinds will increase to one hour in length, creating even more opportunity for even more deep-stacked poker than Day 1's 40-minute levels offered.

As mentioned, the top 31 finishers will make it into the money, meaning there's still a lot of work left to be done for all still in contention to earn a payday. Not a single player will be coming into the day with less than 10 big blinds, as even the five shortest stacks to enter the day in Phil Cummings (60,000), Ian Pelz (72,500), Hassan Tahsildar (82,000), Peter Johnson (88,000), and Ben Keeline (92,000) will all have plenty of time and maneuverability to attempt an ascent up the counts.
