Day 3 Started

Welcome To Day 3 of the August 2019 Colorado Poker Championship $1,100 Main Event

The August 2019 Colorado Poker Championship Main Event has reached the final table of nine. After seeing record setting fields across the entire three-week-long series, the Main Event proved no different. The tournament saw 330 entries over three initial starting flights, a 25-percent increase from last August’s Main Event.

Coming into the final table with the chip lead is Barb Visher, who enters the day with a nearly 150-big blind stack of 2.399 million. With $6,594 in lifetime earnings coming into the day, Visher’s final table appearance guarantees she will more than double that number, though her eyes are set on the top prize of $73,621.

Visher is followed in the counts by Nate Zoller (2.069 million), who is the only other player over 2 million in chips. Day 1c chip leader Jay Jesse finds himself third in chips with just over 1 million, just ahead of Jon Cohen, who finished Day 2 with 996,000 in chips.

The rest of the field is bundled together, with Wendy Freedman (621,000) looking up at everybody else. Freedman has over $1.1 million in lifetime earnings and is still largely in contention, as the fantastic structure for this tournament leaves her coming into the final table with just under 40 big blinds.

Cards are in the air at 11 a.m. local time with 17:21 remaining on the clock in Level 22 (8,000/16,000/16,000). Levels are one-hour in length until the tournament reaches heads-up play, at which point they will reduce to 30 minutes until a champion has been crowned.

Also up for grabs are 10 seats to Wednesday’s $2,500 High Roller event. These seats will be awarded to the top 10 players in the series-long points leader board, and the points awarded for the top finishers will surely result in multiple players getting a free entry into the event.

PokerNews will be providing updates as the final table unfolds, so be sure to stick around to find out who reigns supreme when all is said and done.

Jay Jesse was on the button and saw action folded to him. He opened to 40,000 and was called by George Medina in the small blind and Steve Wilkie in the big blind.

The flop came {2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} and both Medina and Wilkie checked. Jesse made a continuation-bet of 55,000 and Medina called. Wilkie called behind, bringing the turn {a-Diamonds}. Medina led out for 60,000 and received a call from Wilkie. With action on Jesse, he thought for a few moments before picking up his cards to look at them. He then folded.

Action went heads up to the river {j-Spades} and both players checked to showdown.

Wilkie tabled {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Medina briefly flashed his cards before mucking them. A player asked what he had and the dealer flashed them again for a split second, displaying {a-}{q-} in the process.
