The race to the final table is on when Day 2 of the EAPT Barcelona €560 Main Event begins at 6 p.m. local time.

The first three starting flights saw a total of 281 entries take to the felt in Casino Barcelona, in addition to the turbo Day 1d flight that began this morning and 34 more from an online qualifier held on GGPoker. More than 43 still remain in the hunt for the trophy, all of whom are now in the money after surviving their opening flight.

Teddy Kamel built up an enormous stack of 815,000 on Day 1c and takes the overall tournament chip lead into today’s action. Fernando Santa Maria (731,000), Antonio Pagliuca (610,000), Cedric Jaby (595,000), and Harcharan Dogra (567,000) round out the top five.

The total prize pool will be announced shortly after the start of play. Players are also still eligible to win a free package for the next EAPT festival in Bucharest. The player wearing an EAPT patch who lasts the longest will win a seat, while players who post a photo of the patch on Instagram using the hashtag #eapokertour will be entered into a random drawing for the package.

Levels will now be 45 minutes long and pick up at the earliest finishing time from one of the starting flights. Day 1b finished on Level 15, with blinds of 3,000-6,000 and a 6,000 ante. The plan for today is to approach the final table, with a champion being crowned tomorrow.

PokerNews will follow the action the entire way and provide live updates as the field whittles toward the final nine.

Carballas Dents Carvalho's Stack Early

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

David Carballas and Andre Carvalho were heads-up on a board of 5QA9 when Carballas bet 16,000 in early position.

Carvalho called on the button and the river was the 3. Carballas then bet another 26,000 and Carvalho instantly tossed in a chip to call.

Carballas turned over A9 for two pair and Carvalho let out a loud sigh before mucking.

Sousa Counterfeited to the Rail

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Souleiman Sbai moved all in for his last 60,000 in middle position as action folded around to Nelson Sousa, in the big blind, who called for his last 50,000.

Nelson Sousa: 88
Souleiman Sbai: K6

Sousa was ahead with his pair of eights as the board came 10A510, but the river brought the A to counterfeit his pocket pair as he shot out of his seat in frustration while Sbai claimed the pot and the knockout.
