With a few brief announcements from Epic Poker League Commissioner Annie Duke, Tournament Director Matt Savage has kicked things off with the famous words, "Shuffle up and deal!" The cards are now in the air and Jason Mercier will control the button to start.

Seed Gets Even Shorter on First Hand

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

On the first hand at the final table, Gavin Smith opened with a raise to 40,000 from the cutoff seat. Huck Seed flatted out of the small blind and Hasan Habib called from the big blind. Already on the first hand, a flop would be seen.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and action checked around to see the {K-Clubs} pair the board on the turn.Seed slid forward some chips, totaling 70,000. Habib called and Smith folded.

The river completed the board with the {Q-Clubs} and Seed checked. Habib checked behind and showed the {J-Hearts}{10-Spades} to win the pot.

Rheem Three-Bets

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

From under the gun, Jason Mercier raised to 32,000 and action folded around to the blinds. Chino Rheem was in the small blind and three-bet. From our vantage point, the raise appeared to be 52,000 more. Gavin Smith folded his big blind and Mercier made the call.

The flop was {k-}{4-}{3-} with two spades. Rheem fired out 88,000 and Mercier didn't waste much time before folding.

Rheem Firing Away

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

From the hijack seat, Hasan Habib raised to 41,000. He found callers in Chino Rheem on the button and Gavin Smith in the small blind. The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and action checked to Rheem. He bet 39,000 and only Smith made the call.

After the {J-Spades} paired the board on the turn, Smith checked and Rheem bet 76,000. Smith folded and Rheem won the pot.

Seed Picks One Up

Erik Seidel raised to 40,000 and Huck Seed called out of the big blind. The flop came down {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Seed check-called a bet of 50,000 from Seidel. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {5-Spades} land on the river. Both checked again.

Seed showed the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and won the pot.

Seidel's Turn

From under the gun, Jason Mercier raised to 32,000. Action folded to Erik Seidel on the button and he put a stack worth 90,000 in front of his cards. The players in the blinds folded and Mercier quickly dumped his hand.

Another For Seed

First to act, Hasan Habib raised to 41,000 and found callers from Chino Rheem in the cutoff and Huck Seed in the big blind.

The flop was {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Seed checked. Habib bet 56,000 which got Rheem out of the way but Seed decided to come along. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and both players quickly checked. The river was the {a-Diamonds} and Seed thought for a moment before betting the minimum, 16,000. Habib wasted no time folding and Seed continues to grow his stack.

Two in a Row for Smith

Gavin Smith raised to 40,000 and Hasan Habib called from the small blind. Erik Seidel called from the big blind and the flop came down {J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}. Smith fired 78,000 after play was checked to him and his opponents folded.

On the next hand, Smith raised preflop from under the gun and everyone folded, making it two in a row for Smith.
