Straight Over Straight

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

From under the gun, Jason Mercier raised 20,000 and was only called by Erik Seidel in the big blind.

The flop was {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Seidel led for 25,000. Mercier called to see the {2-Clubs} hit the river. Seidel bet 80,000 and Mercier immediately made the call.

Seidel had a straight with {4-}{x-} but Mercier tabled {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for the better end of it to scoop the pot.

Brandon Meyers Eliminated in 9th Place ($70,960)

The last Pro/Am qualifier has been eliminated as Brandon Meyers fell in ninth place, earning $70,960. He was eliminated by the man who seems to be doing all the damage today, chip leader Chino Rheem.

From the small blind, Meyers moved all in for what looked to be 120,000 in chips. Rheem called from the big blind holding the {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Meyers held the {K-Clubs}{2-Spades} and was behind. His cards were live though as the two players went to the flop.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Rheem added a pair of nines. Meyers still had an overcard with his king and could also go runner, runner queen, jack for a king-high straight.

The turn was the {10-Clubs}, which meant that the river would have to be a king and a king only if Meyers were to stay alive.

The river was a lowly black three and Meyers couldn't find the help he needed. He was eliminated in ninth place while Rheem climbed even closer towards two million in chips.

Balancing Act

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

In order to correctly balance the tables after Brandon Meyers' elimination, Erik Seidel has been moved off the main feature table to the outer table. He now sits in Seat 2 between Chino Rheem and Hasan Habib.

New Nickname

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Chino Rheem has been fairly talkative at his table as he always seems to be in poker events. Just recently, Rheem commented towards Hasan Habib and said, "Hasan Ha-beast." Seems like a solid nickname to us.

Aces for Seidel

Action folded to Erik Seidel in the small blind and he raised. Hasan Habib called from the big blind and the flop came down {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Seidel fired 30,000 and Habib called.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and both players checked before the {6-Diamonds} landed on the river. Seidel bet 60,000 and Habib called.

Seidel tabled the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and Habib mucked his hand.

Eugene Katchalov Eliminated in 8th Place ($70,960)

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Eugene Katchalov (Day 2) - 8th Place
Eugene Katchalov (Day 2) - 8th Place

On the button, Jason Mercier raised to 20,000 before Eugene Katchalov moved all in from the small blind. Gavin Smith, who was in the big blind, asked to have it counted out and the dealer announced that it was for 247,000. Smith decided to call and Mercier folded deuces face up.

Katchalov: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Smith: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Smith took a commanding lead on the {5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop but the {5-Hearts} on the turn did give Katchalov a sweat. The {k-Diamonds} river didn't do it though and we are now down to our unofficial final table.

Seed Doubles

Action folded to Hasan Habib in the small blind and he raised to 25,000. Huck Seed tanked for a bit from the big blind and then slid out a tall stack of blue T5,000 chips for a reraise to 110,000. Seed still had chips behind, but only a tiny bit. Habib reraised to put Seed all in and Seed called.

Seed: {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Habib: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop, turn and river ran out {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Seed was able to come from behind for the double.
