Rollercoaster for Beppe

Speaking of Michael 'Don't Call Me Beppe' Greco, the British thespian-cum-poker professional has been on somewhat of a rollercoaster of late, dipping down as low as 2,000, before eventually settling on 11,000.

"I had to fold aces one hand," he claimed, as I inquired of his poor start. "I raised it up to 800, received one caller and bet out 2,300 on a K-T-x flop. He made it 6,000, and I decided to let it go, only for him to show K-T."

"I got it back later though," he continued. "I managed to get up to 4,000, before flopping a flush with T-8 suited on a queen high flop. My opponent made the call with Q-J and was basically drawing dead."

Great Scott!

Scott Montgomery, another member of the "November Nine," is now fighting it out for the chip lead with around 35,000. His 600 preflop raise was reraised to 1,700 by the button, which Montgomery called.

On the {3-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, Montgomery checked, the button made a standard continuation bet, Montgomery raised to 5,500 and the button pushed all in for a total of 14,850.

After squirming in his seat like a three-legged ferret, Montgomery eventually made the call and showed {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. His opponent tabled {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

A {6-Spades} turn created several more outs, but on the blank {4-Diamonds} river, Montgomery was left to wipe his brow, mouth the word "phew" and rake in the pot.

Greg Raymer's Stack More Than Halved

Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer opened for a preflop raise to 750, the player in the hijack seat called, and the cutoff moved all in for his remaining 4,750. Donning his infamous glasses and one of his signature fossils protecting his cards, Raymer tanked for several minutes before electing to make the call. The hijack folded and the hands were turned up, Raymer's {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} in a race situation with his opponent's {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {2-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}, the cutoff winning the coin flip. Raymer was down to around 4,000 after the hand.

"I was getting 2-1 and thought it was right to call against your range," explained Fossilman.

I Sverre He Can Make a Comeback

One player dragging his knuckles along the floor during the break was Norwegian star Sverre Sundbo. His brooding was the result of a blind-on-blind confrontation. "I called a seven-high flop with K-Q, and hit a king on the turn. He bet, I pushed and he called with K-J, jack on the river."

"Are you short short or just short?" I asked.

"Er... short," he replied. "I have 6,500."

"You've been a lot shorter before and come back," I continued. "Remember Amsterdam?"

"Yeah, it happened in the WSOP Main Event. Dortmund too, where I was down to just a 150, but finished the day third in chips."

Technical Difficulties

We, along with all the other media outlets, have been experiencing intermittent internet outages. They have not typically been lasting more than 20-25 minutes; however it goes without saying that they can, have, and will cause a disturbance in the continuity of our live coverage.

While we don't expect any more disruptions, they are possible, and should they occur, please keep in mind we are still here, working diligently to bring you the action the moment our connection returns.

Thanks so much for your patience.
