New Chip Leader

The chip lead seems to be swinging back and forth like a Creed/Rocky bout, the latest player to enjoy his moment at the top being French-Canadian qualifier Phillippe Dauteuil. He has just overtaken Scotty Nguyen as chip leader with 85,025 and now has a row of chips that would make the Great Wall of China look small.

Devilfish Eliminated

"I drink six gallons of vodka and four gallons of Red Bull."
"I drink six gallons of vodka and four gallons of Red Bull."
I knew Devilfish was officially eliminated when I wandered through the cash game area and spotted him playing high stakes Pot Limit Omaha. I watched one hand where he busted a player when his top set held up against a straight flush draw. That pot was worth well over £2,500 or half of what he lost buying into the PokerStars.com EPT London.

Brucie Bonus

Daniel Mangas made it 1,700, Chris Bjorin called, but Chris Bruce forced both players to fold by moving all in for around 10,000. After a smidgen of encouragement, he showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

Kjaestad Doubles Through

With two callers before him, Stephan Kjaestad opted to raise it up to 2,700 with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Both limpers called. On the {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop we were treated to a genuine fireworks display as the first limper check-raised all in with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Kjaestad made the inevitable call, and a {Q-Spades} turn and {A-Diamonds} river later he scooped the pot, albeit after having to convince the dealer that it wasn't a chop.

He was still stacking his chips at the time, but the Norwegian must have in excess of 60,000 as a result of that encounter.
