Scandinavian Warfare

On a board reading {10-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}, we just caught the final betting actions. After a check from Jan Skampa, Allan Baekke bet 22,500 into a pot of about 40,000. Skampa went deep into the tank for several minutes before double-checking his hole cards. Finally, he grabbed his stack of about 45,000 chips and slid them forward. Baekke could not have folded any quicker, and Skampa earns himself a nice pot.

He's up to about 110,000 after that all-Scandinavian battle.

Reinkemeier Chops Plot But Still Loses Out to a Bluff

Enormous excitement as JP Kelly moved in on a {4-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {A-Clubs} flop and was called by Tobias Reinkemeier - closely followed by vague disappointment, from a spectator's point of view anyway, as both players turned over {A-?} {Q-?} with nary a club in sight, and following an uneventful turn and river they chopped it up.

Kelly - 35,000
Reinkemeier - 70,000

By the by, Reinkemeier was telling a tale of woe while this was all taking place.

"I asked a waitress for a coffee and she said it was 50c, but she needed the money in advance. I asked her why, she said she needed the change, so I gave her a euro. Then she never came back."

"Wow, you got bluffed," commiserated a tablemate.

"Maybe she wasn't a waitress," offered another.

Spaniard Finds Quaaaaaads

It seems that Manuel Jimenez Cecilia check-called a bet from Dominykas Karmazinas on the {4-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} flop and then check-min-raised another bet on the {J-Hearts} turn.

So there was around 70,000 in the pot by the river, when Cecilia bet out 25,000. Karmazinas called - but his face sank like a lead zeppelin when Cecilia turned over {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} for flopped quads. He showed pocket eights, and is down to 100,000 while the Spaniard moves on up to 150,000.

"Spanish power," declared a completely unbiased member of the Spanish media. Indeed.

Kramarruko Sent Back to Russia

Luis Rodrigues checked the turn of an {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades} board and Olga Kramarruko bet 10,000. Rodrigues now raised to cover her, and after a moment she called all in.

Kramarruko: {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for top pair
Rodrigues: {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for two pair and a flush draw

River: {7-Hearts}

And that's it for the Russian.

Black is Back

Andy Black and Ruben Visser have been engaged in good-natured banter all day, but their stacks have been moving in opposite directions since play began.

Down to his last 25,800 chips, Black shoved them in under the gun. Two seats over, Visser asked for a count before making the call. The table folded out of the way, and it was heads up for Black's tournament life.

Showdown
Black: {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Visser: {J-Spades} {J-Hearts}

The flop was both excellent and dreadful for the at-risk Black, coming {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. He'd flopped his set, but Visser pointed to his jack of hearts as he was now drawing live to the flush. That was no longer the case after the turn brought the {10-Spades}, filling in Black's quads and securing his double up. He's back up around 54,800 and back to smiling.

Losing Karma

Claudio Coelho, Manuel Cecilia and Dominykas Karmazinas all managed to make it to the river of an {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {A-Spades} {9-Spades} board, at which point Coelho bet out 17,000. Cecilia thought about it and eventually called; Karmazinas folded with a sigh of frustration that suggested he's had a very unhappy couple of levels.

Coelho and Cecilia both flipped {A-?} {Q-?} and chopped it up. Karmazinas continued to huff and puff.

Deeb v. Sarwer

Shaun Deeb and Jeff Sarwer are sitting together again, as they did for a day during EPT Warsaw a few weeks ago. So it's safe to say they're familiar with each other. And after this last pot, that's even more true.

On a turned board showing {7-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}, the two men had already built a pot of about 50,000. Sarwer checked, and Deeb fired a bet of 22,300. Sarwer then stuck in a check-raise to 45,000, and Deeb went into the tank for several minutes. He eventually took off his shades to get a better look, and, after several more minutes, he called.

The river came the {4-Spades}, putting trips on board. Sarwer knocked the table this time, and Deeb thought it over for another several minutes. He eventually checked behind, and Sarwer tabled {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. "Just a seven," he said, unsure. It was good though; Deeb mucked his hand with a frown, slipping down to about 60,000. Sarwer, on the other hand, seems to have just pipped the 200,000-chip mark with that pot.
