Rockets Excite Darcourt

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Kiril Zahariev raised from the cutoff and Guillaume Darcourt shoved from the small blind.

"I call," said Zahariev, turning over {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

"YESSSS!!!!!" said Darcourt and flipped {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Board: {2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

"YES!" said Darcourt again, then fistpumped and made some noises that sounded like, "Nhhhh! Nnnnhhhhhhh!" Zahariev dejectedly told him nice hand, and Darcourt calmed down. "Sorry for this, but it was so long I was so short." He;s still well below average on around 170,000.

Rasmus Eradicates Telezhkin

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Rasmus Nielsen
Rasmus Nielsen

Kirill Telezhkin limped in, as did Melanie Weisner, before Rasmus Nielsen made it 36,000 from the button. They both called and found themselves looking at an {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades} flop. Telezhkin shrugged and went all in, which got rid of Weisner pretty sharpish, but Nielsen made the call and it was the end of Telezhkin.

Telezhkin: {j-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a pair of jacks
Nielsen: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for a set of jacks

Turn and river: {4-Hearts} and {7-Spades} respectively

Weisner said that she'd had pocket sevens, which could have got interesting if she'd made it past the flop. But either way, Telezhkin was gone, and Nielsen's stack was over 600,000 at the end of the hand. If he makes it all the way to Day 5, it'll be his third EPT final table.

Zapletin On the Felt

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

After a good level of steady, Kirill Zapletin has made just one critical decision which has dropped him to 9,000 and given Jan Bendik most of his stack. The two of them saw a raised flop of {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs}; Zapletin checked, Bendik bet 38,000 and Zapletin slowly check-raised to 67,000. Back to Bendik, who took only a modest amount of time to re-raise all in. Zapletin took a long time to call the extra 150k or so (just under his total) but was in bad shape:

Zapletin: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Bendik: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The turn brought a breath-holder - the {4-Diamonds} - but the {9-Spades} on the river crippled Zapletin while Bendik rises to over 300,000.

Liviu Hard to Push Off

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Blind vs. blind just now, and Ruslan Prydryk took his small blind opportunity to put in a raise to 18k. Big blind Liviu Ignat made the call. A similar pattern followed on the {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Diamonds} flop - this time a lead of 25k and a quick call. The turn was the {10-Spades} and bet by neither player, but the river saw Prydryk bet out 34k. Ignat took quite a while to measure out the call and make it, but he was rewarded by seeing his {K-Hearts}{5-Spades} was ahead - Prydrik flipped {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a total bluff.

MacPhee Breaks Through 1m Mark As He Rumbles Richter

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

The chip leader at the end of Day 1b and Day 2, Dirk Richter has been eliminated at the hands of EPT Berlin Champion Kevin MacPhee.

Joining the hand on the {k-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, Richter checked, MacPhee bet 33,500 only to see Richter check-raise all in! MacPhee quickly called and the hands were revealed!

MacPhee: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} - For top pair

Richter: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} - For complete air! Seriously!

The dealer burned and dealt the {3-Spades} turn, meaning the river had to be one of the three remaining aces or he would have crashed and burned in spectacular fashion.

River: {7-Hearts} - Game over for Richter as MacPhee becomes the first player to break through the one million chip mark!

Pagano On the Ropes

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Luca Pagano: no call, back to the grind
Luca Pagano: no call, back to the grind

He's been here before and he'll be here again - making the money in an EPT seems to be as normal as breakfast for Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano. However his stack could use some feeding - he just lost a pot to new table leader and fellow Italian Marco Leonzio. Leonzio check-raised Pagano's 34k bet on a {10-Clubs}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs} by 41,000 and Pagano, after thinking for a while let it go.

Pagano: 105,000
Leonzio: 620,000
