Liv-ing It Up

With about 11,000 in the pot and the board reading {2-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Spades}, Liv Boeree fired a bet of 4,000 when it was checked to her. Her opponent called before both players checked the {Q-Spades} turn.

On the {6-Spades} river, it was checked to her again and she moved all-in for about 13,600 resulting in an instant muck from the other player.

Boeree is back up to about 33,000.

Medic's Stack Looking Healthy

Nenad Medic raised to 2,700 under-the-gun, and it folded all the way to the big blind, who called. The flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, and the big blind checked, then instantly called Medic's 4,100 bet. The big blind again checked the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn. Medic bet 7,000, and the big blind moved all in for less than 10,000 more. Medic couldn't call fast enough, turning up his cards so fast the dealer questioned whether he'd said call first or not. But no one disputed that he'd called with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for the turned top set. The big blind showed {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for bottom pair with a gutshot. The river was the {A-Diamonds}, eliminating the big blind and building Medic's stack to 93,000. "Nice blind defense there," needled another player as the big blind gathered his things.

Check Out This Prizepool

A total of 848 players paid, qualified, or otherwise found their way into this tournament, generating a prizepool of €8,480,000, with €1,700,000 going to the lady or gentleman who takes first place.

That's going to buy them a lot of cheeseburgers, even in Monte Carlo.

We'll be publishing full details of the payouts as soon as we get our paws on them.

Baron Von Squeeze

Despite the earlier lucky double up against Nicolas Levl, Isaac Baron was still was not too deep coming into level nine.

A late position raised to 2,400 and the cutoff made the call before Baron moved all-in from the button for 21,000. This managed to scare off everyone.

All In Gomes

We heard Alex Gomes let out a whoop and came over to see the dealer counting his chips for another player to double him up. Turns out Gomes also gained a third guy's entire stack in the hand and almost tripled up. We're not sure when the money went in (guessing not preflop), but Gomes held {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a rivered boat on a {K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Spades} board. The busto player said he had pocket aces, and the player busy paying Gomes was extremely unhappy to lose with a queen-high flush. Gomes is near the top of the counts now with over 110,000.

No Medic Needed - Yet

When we walked up to this table, Nenad Medic had all of his chips in the middle, totaling about 62,000. The board read {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts} and he was waiting on his opponent to make a decision.

After some checking and rechecking of his cards, his opponent mucked, and Nenad took the chips from the pot.

Double Whammy

All the chips were in the middle when we strolled up and saw this hand. Paul Berende had two other players at the table covered and all three hands were on their backs.

Berende: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Player A: {A-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Player B: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the table was two players lighter and Berende's stack was quite a few chips healthier.

I Call Fives

The clock has been stopped for the last level of the day and a five was drawn, meaning the field will play five more hands before calling it a night.
