Not the best of starts for lackadaisically-coiffed Belgian Davidi Kitai.(button) as he called a 750 bet from the gent in the cutoff on a flop.
Mr. Cutoff checked the turn but called the 850 bet from Kitai, and following two checks on the river Kitai discovered that his was not good enough to beat his opponent's . The Belgian dipped below his starting stack and looked a little disgruntled.
Jesper Hougaard picked up a nice pot when he called a bet from recent EPT San Remo finalist Alexey Rybin on the turn of a board. The river came down the and this time Rybin checked. Hougaard bet 1,600, and thereby elicited an insta-fold from Rybin.
Hougaard looked like he was really enjoying stacking up his chips at the end of the hand, and was up to 33,000 or so.
Wow, some early good fortune for one Philip Wiszowaty as the gentleman in seat 1 opened for 375 and picked up two callers before Wiszowaty made it 2,175 from the small blind. Mr. Seat 1 called, the other two got out of their way, and they saw a flop.
Wiszowaty check-called 4,000 on the flop and another 10,000 on the turn. This is level 2, remember. Blinds are 75/150. Wiszowaty checked the river too and must have been disappointed that Mr. Seat 1 finally checked behind, as Wiszowaty turned over for top set. Mr. Seat 1 turned over for absolutely nothing. Maybe he had too much coffee at breakfast or something.
Mr. Seat 1 bluffed off another 4,000 next hand too. Absolute craziness.
A very nice Italian lady appeared at the PokerNews bloggers' desk asking where she might find her friend Nicolo Calia. We looked him up on the player list, discovered that he was in the other room, and seeing as we were heading that way anyway we offered to show her the way.
So we made it to the other room, and we found Nicolo Calia all in and then busted.
We're not sure when the chips went in but we would guess on the flop or the turn.
Calia:
Belkhayate El Mostafa:
Board:
"YES! I AM HERE!" shouted Mostafa, as he bumped his stack up to a very impressive 85,000. Calia meanwhile is now free to hava a pleasant and relaxed drink with his charming friend at the bar, as he is busto.
Chad Batista is already heading back to his room at the hotel. He got it in with against on a board and did not get there.
Meanwhile, on the same table Novelist Charlotte Roche has made an impression on Chris Moorman. "If it had been Ivey in that seat, he'd have been pretty impressed with himself so far," said Moorman. "She 3-barrels everyone and hasn't had a single hand go to showdown yet!"
By the by the number of tables in the other room may be small, but my are they perfectly formed.
Among the folks battling it out across the way are Claudio "Father Of Luca" Pagano, Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen, Leo Margets, Catherine Hong, Alfonso Amendola, Richard "Chufty" Ashby, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Rob Hollink and Vlad Zguba.
