Not Mizzing Any Value

A threeway flop of {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {7-Hearts} saw Sorrel Mizzi lead out for 1,350. Thierry van den Berg tanked but then folded. The button then raised to 2,800 and Mizzi called.

On the {6-Clubs} turn Mizzi fired out again for 4,000 and the button flat-called before Mizzi bet 12,500 on the {2-Hearts} river.

The button called a final time but then mucked when the Canadian turned over {J-Spades} {10-Clubs} for top two pair.

Veldhuis Destroys Excellent Start

Alexander
Alexander
After an excellent start turning a full house with pocket sevens on an {8-?} {4-?} {4-?} {7-?} X and getting his huge overbet called on the river, Lex Veldhuis has lost most of it back again and is now back to roughly his starting stack.

Veldhuis opened for 600 and got two callers, one of them Vlad Mezheritsky and the other one the gentleman in the small blind; the three of them saw a {10-Clubs} {J-Spades} {9-Spades} flop. The small blind checked and Veldhuis bet 1,200, Mezheritsky called and the small blind got out of the way.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and Veldhuis now bet out 2,850. Again, Mezheritsky flatted, and they moved on to the river.

The river came down the {8-Clubs} and this time Veldhuis checked. Mezheritsky bet 6,000, and Veldhuis now check-raised all in to cover. Mezheritsky called all in for 24,600 and turned over {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} for the flopped straight, then raked in the 60,000 pot. Veldhuis mucked and looked ill, and dropped right back down to 34,000.

Diamonds Are Not So Toth

Richard Toth has been eliminated after getting all-in on the turn of a {7-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} board with {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}. So far, so reasonable. The problem was he was all-in against Masaaki Kagawa's {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} but even worse, Alex Keating's {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}, which had the other two players drawing dead even before the {K-Clubs} river was dealt.

Toth was eliminated leaving Keating doubling through Kagawa and taking the Hungarian PokerStars Team Pro's chips as well.

Maria Maceiras Likes the Turn, Not So Much the River

The gentleman on the button raised to 600 and then flatted a reraise to 1,700 from Maria "Sister Of Juan" Maceiras in the small blind. The two of them saw a flop.

Flop: {J-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}

Maceiras bet out 2,500 and Button Gent called. They saw a turn.

Turn: {K-Clubs}

This time Maceiras checked, and Button Gent bet 5,000. Maceiras thought about it for a while, placed her last yellow 5,000-denomination chip on top of the rest of her stack, and after a little while she called, leaving herself 11,500 back. So, to the river.

River: {10-Hearts}

Maceiras checked again, and this time Button Gent bet 15,000 to put her in. She dwelled up for a long time, and eventually folded. Yikes.

De Korver Carved Up

It's all over for de Korver
It's all over for de Korver
Four players made it to the {10-?} {7-?} {2-?}, two-club flop and reigning champion Pieter de Korver found himself involved holding {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. One gentleman bet out 1,300, and de Korver made it 4,100. Everyone else got out of their way while the bettor made it 11,000. De Korver went all in and the other gent called, holding pocket sevens for a set.

We don't know whether de Korver's flush ever came in, as the {2-?} on the turn gave his opponent a full house to render the point moot. Thus de Korver is bust, and we will definitely be crowning a new champion this year.

Mercier Calls The Bluff; Still Loses

Jason Mercier bet out 4,200 on the river of a {J-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {J-Hearts} board only to find himself being check-raised to 12,000. He tanked for a moment before making the call.

His opponent looked sad and said, "I've turned my hand into a bluff," flipping {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Mercier mucked sighing, "Jesus Christ, I should've shipped it..."

Mercier drops to 16,000.

Gardner Has Chips Weeded Away From Him

Julian Gardner might not play as many events as he use to, but the former WSOP Main Event runner-up is still reckoned to be one the best players in the UK by his colleagues.

However, he is now officially on the respirator after losing most of his stack in a huge pot.

Gardner bet 12,000 on the river of a {2-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} board but found Patrick Renkers check/raising all-in for just 7,275 more. Gardner made the call but could not beat his opponent's flopped set holding of {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}.

Gardner is left with just 1,800 as a result.

Weisner Shows Wisdom

Craig Bergeron opened for 800 but Melanie Weisner made it 2,100 from the small blind. After a few moments, he called.

They saw a {9-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} flop and Weisner thought about it for a long time before betting out 2,575. Bergeron looked like he'd gone to sleep, but after some time his eyes flicked up to peer at Weisner, and raised to 5,500. Weisner promptly three-bet another 10,000 or so, and Bergeron gave it up.

Bergeron - down to 20,500
Weisner - up to 58,000
