Channing Busts, Heads for Side Event

After making what was, to quote his own term, an "unconventional" play, Neil Channing found himself down to just 60,000.

So it was that the gentleman under the gun raised with {A-?} {J-?} and Channing pushed with {A-?} {Q-?}. The under-the-gun raiser called, and promptly spiked a jack on the turn to send Channing to the rail, or more likely, to the six-max event.

Break Time

You know things are getting serious when the 500 chips are no longer required. The colour up is taking place, and play will resume in 15.

Levi Overflowing

They're still counting out chips from the last hand before the break on Nicolas Levi's table. He was down to 246,000 when the hand started, but things couldn't have gone much better for the French pro when he raised on the button. Jerome Zerbib moved all in from the small blind, and tournament chip leader Kevin Eyster overshoved from the big blind, and it wasn't exactly a tough call for Levi.

Showdown
Zerbib: {K-Spades} {9-?} (covered by both)
Levi: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} (covered by Eyster)
Eyster: {K-?} {J-?}

The {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} flop looked mighty good to Levi. And he was a lock to triple up after the {10-Clubs} on the turn. The river was the meaningless {7-Diamonds}. Zerbib won't need to come back after the break, and Levi's now got 618,000 to return to - not good news for the rest of his table.

Weisner Busts

Older and Weisner
Older and Weisner
Just as we headed back on to the floor, we found Melanie Weisner heading for the door, making the internationally recognized sign of the slitty-throaty. Turns out the gentleman on the button had made a slightly-above-minimum raise and Weisner had shoved from the big blind with {K-?} {J-?}. The button raiser called with {A-?} {7-?}, the board bricked out, and Weisner is free to spend the rest of the day by the pool.

Moneymaker Makes No More

"He take my money, while I'm in need."
"He take my money, while I'm in need."
Chris Moneymaker reraised all-in for around 160,000 after an early position raise from Jean Francois Talbot. The Canadian made the call with {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} and Moneymaker said, "Well, I've got one over..." showing the not so stellar {J-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. "I've waited all this time to go all-in with {J-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}..." sighed the former WSOP Champion, perhaps already lamenting his push.

The board came {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {5-Spades} {7-Spades} Moneymaker was eliminated.
