Team Pokerstars Pro Vanessa Rousso, is having a right old natter over at table 23. Unfortunately, her oral skills are not turning out a chip profit. She has been all-in once and won without a showdown but then lost the following hand.
Suat Uyanik opened with a raise to 750 and Rousso called in the seat to his left. The flop was and Uyanik bet 725. Rousso raised to 1,500 (when Uyanik later asked her why she raised Rousso said she was protecting her hand against AK/AQ) and Uyanik called. The turn was the and it seems like the raise on the flop had slowed him down because he now checked. Rousso bet 2,500 - leaving 7,000 behind - and Uyanik called.
Kewin Lambert limped in middle position for 300 before Luca Pagano made it 1,200 next to him. Morozovs Mihails called in the small blind, as did Lambert as they went three-ways to the flop of . Mihails checked, Lambert bet 3,500 but Pagano was the only caller.
The turn was the and Lambert bet 10,000, Pagano sighed slightly and moved all-in for not much more and Lambert quickly called.
The board read when we arrived and Daniel Negreanu (under the gun) bet out 1,650. A few seats down, Abdelkader Ghanima called, and they saw the river.
Aforementioned river was the and Negreanu now bet out 5,600 with just 6,600 behind. Ghanima made the call, but he mucked and giggled when Negreanu turned over for a baby flush.
Negreanu is back up to a still below-average 23,000.
Christophe Sorel is up to about 80,000 after he set Antonin Teisseire all-in on the river of a board. Teisseire looked very pained, constantly recounting his stack before finally deciding he could not give up this hand.
Sorel flipped for a flush, Teisseire mucked his hand very disappointedly and exited stage right. Sorel is up to about 70,000.
For a very long time, in the virtual world of the internet, many of the worlds top poker players could not find a weakness in Team Pokerstars Pro Viktor Blom's game. We are not getting carried away just yet but Almira Skripchenko seems to be having more success than most. Earlier on in the tournament she called down three of his barrels with third pair and she has just taken another sizeable chunk out of the Swede in this hand.
There was a limper under-the-gun and Blom made the raise to 1,600 from the cut-off. Skripchenko three-bet from the small blind making it 4,200 to play and Blom called.
The flop was and Skripchenko check-called a Blom bet of 3,000 before they both checked the turn which was . The river was the and Skripchenko fired out a bet of 8,600 and Blom folded.
Skripchenko is now up to 120,000 and Blom is languishing at the other end of the chip count with 33,000.
Right in the very corner of the tournament area is one Martin Jacobson, the young Swede whose most recent score was runner up to Toby Lewis at EPT Vilamoura. Jacobson has an amazing string of results, but seems to suffer from a slight case of always-the-bridesmaid-never-th e-bride - despite claiming two EPT final tables (he finished third back at EPT Budapest in 2008), a WPT final (runner up at WPT Venice in 2009) and two WSOP finals (both in $1,500 NLH, one in 2009 and one in 2010), he has yet to get that elusive first place in a big event.
Nevertheless Jacobson is moving in the right direction in this tournament.Just now he raised to 925 under the gun and got calls from Corneliu Cretu in the cutoff and also the gentleman in the big blind to see an flop. The big blind rather unhappily open-folded and sure enough Jacobson bet 1,425 which Cretu called. But when Jacobson bet out 3,000 on the turn, Cretu gave it up, and Jacobson is well above average on almost 50,000.
We just caught the tail end of the hand, which consisted of Liv Boeree betting 6,700 on the river of a board and Per Linde tanking up for some time, everyone at the table looking very intense. Eventually the clock was called, but it never came to a countdown. Before the floorman could reach their table Linde had folded and dropped back to his starting stack, while the EPT San Remo champion upped her own stack to 37,000.
We got there just in time to witness an all-in showdown on a flop between Olivier Busquet and Charles Harvey, the latter player at risk.
Harvey:
Busquet:
Turn: bringing in Busquet's flush
River: an irrelevant
Harvey duly hit the rail. Busquet, meanwhile, who you may remember came second to Tobias Reinkemeier in the high roller event at Monte Carlo last year, is up to 65,000.
Nicolas Levi has been eliminated from EPT Deauville.
Levi raised to 1,000 and Pokerstars qualifier Alex Wice three-bet to 3,200. Wice had been using this move on Levi quite a lot and the usual modus operandi for Levi has been to call. Levi did indeed call and we saw a flop of and both players checked. The turn was the and it made the board look incredible draw friendly. Levi checked and Wice bet 5,100. Levi moved all-in and Wice called so fast we thought he was going to fall off his chair.
Wice held for the straight and Levi held for the straight draw. The on the river sealed Levi's fate.
