Thomas Bichon raised from the small blind and got called by Eric le Goff in the big blind to see a [ flop. Bichon bet out 8,000, and after a few moments le Goff folded.
We mention this small and mostly uninteresting hand purely because even after it, le Goff is at a commanding 350,000 or so - within sight of the chip lead. Bichon, by the by, is at 130,000.
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier spent most of Day 1 grinding a fairly short stack but since the start of day 2, he's been quickly climbing up the leaderboard.
Case in point, he just opened to 4,500 from UTG and got calls from Lucien Cohen and Kevin Kevosomphet to see a flop. ElkY continued with a 7,700 and only Kevosomphet was the only but he gave up on the turn after a 16,600 bet from the Frenchman.
Meanwhile Guillaume de la Gorce check-called a 5,100 bet from Leo Margets on the flop but then gave up when the Spaniard bet 7,500 on the after a second de la Gorce check.
Kristijonas Andrulis seems to have blown up a bit - after a few misfortunes, he's down to just 48,000 from his 150,000 high point.
We caught up with him on the turn of a board. He and Damien Rony put in around 15,000 apiece, although we arrived a little too late to see who did the betting and who did the calling.
The river was the and Andrulis now bet out 25,000. Rony tanked up for a little while before calling with for a full house, putting him back up to 130,000 - he'd lost a big hand with queens versus kings earlier but is now back in contention. Andrulis could only boast and is now in some trouble.
Fabrice Soulier has won close to $1 million dollars in tournament winnings during 2010. He is currently sat on a very interesting table that includes fellow big stacks Mathew Franklan and Anthony Hnatow. Soulier has 325,000, Franklan has 280,000 and Hnatow has 375,000.
The play keeps going back and fore between the three of them. Franklan lost a 120,000 pot to Hnatow earlier but just recently took a 15,000 consolation prize from him.
Soulier seems to be hoovering up most of his chips uncontested.
There had been a raise to 5,000 from one player or another in late position (he'd already folded by the time we got there) before WSOPE Main Event runner up Fabrizio Baldassari reraised to 20,500 from the button. But in the small blind, Eric Gambararo four-bet a large stack of T5k chips. As aforementioned, the original raiser folded, and after a while Baldassari folded too, leaving himself desperately short on just 25,000.
