Francesco De Vivo has doubled through Andrew Teng for a second time, reraising all in with for his last 356,000 against the Englishman's . The board came and when the river hit, De Vivo bang the table incredibly hard with both arms, shouting. He's up to about 19 big blinds.
God help us all if he wins the tournament, he might destroy the building with his celebration...
Max Heinzelmann raised to 80,000 from early position and Antonino Venneri three-bet to 220,000 from the cut-off. Venneri had been playing very tight throughout this competition so it was a strong move by him. Heinzelmann knows this better than most so his next move, which was all-in, was even stronger. Venneri changed his posture numerous times throughout his thinking time but eventually folded his hand leaving himself with 750,000.
At exactly the same time as Venneri was being put under pressure so was Francesco de Vivo. He had made a cut-off raise of 90,000 only to be three-bet by Costantino Russo in the big blind. With a little under 600,000 to his name the decision was going to be a tournament deciding one. Just like Venneri before him de Vivo folded his hand.
Some river misfortune for Luigi Pignataro up on the feature table as he raised preflop and got called by Diego Bolzoni on the button to see a flop, which they both checked. Pignataro bet out 91,000 on the turn and Bolzoni called; they soon found themselves looking at an river. This time both players reverted to checking, and Pignataro turned over , only to find that he'd been rivered by Bolzoni's .
Up on the feature table, Nicolas Yunis opened to 85,000 and Max Lykov reraised to 160,000 from the cutoff. Yunis called, and they saw a flop. Exciting stuff.
The flop and turn were actually rather anticlimactic, both players checking. But things picked up considerably on the river. Yunis checked again, but Lykov now bet 245,000. AFter a few moments' though, Yunis announced a call - but Lykov turned over for a full house and Yunis mucked his hand.
The overnight chip leader is now down to little over 700,000. Lykov is up to around 2.5 million and is gradually becoming more and more likely to become our first ever double EPT champion.
The previous hand saw Marco Bognanni 3-bet Fabrizio Cataldi's open, forcing the Uruguayan to fold, this might have been playing on Cataldi's mind when he opened the very next hand to 87,000 and Team PokerStars Pro Joe Cada made it 210,000. Cataldi moved all in and Cada snap-called.
Cada:
Cataldi:
The board came and Cada won a huge pot to push up to 3.4 million, there was a cloud to this silver lining as Cada and Cataldi are actually close friends.
The very next hand and Joe Cada opened from the cutoff to 90,000 before Antonino Venneri moved all in from the big blind for about 1 million in chips, Cada instantly called.
Venneri:
Cada:
The flop came a Venneri-friendly but the turn was the best card in the deck for Cada that didn't actually put him in front, he now had a flush draw and counterfeit two pair draws to go with his overs but the came on the river to make Venneri a full house and he loudly celebrated. Cada drops back to 2.4 million, Venneri has 2 million.
"They're not scared of getting it in here are they?" said Cada with a wry smile.
Xuan Liu (SB) and Costantino Russo (BB) have just butted heads in the blinds. We missed the pre flop party but it was definitely a re-raised pot.
Flop:
Liu bet 110,000 and Russo raised it up to 255,000. Liu asked Russo for a count and it was 1.1 million. She decided that was enough for her and released her hand.
Since we have started playing 6-max styley over on table two, Team Pokerstars Pro Joe Cada has been extremely active. He raised under the gun for 90,000 and Marco Bognanni called in the big blind. We saw a flop of and both players checked. The turn was and Bognanni check-called a 110,000 stab at the pot by Cada. The river was the and by this time Cada had given up on the pot and Bognanni was equally happy to get to showdown.
Rupert Elder raised to 85,000 under the gun and the action folded around to Heinzelmann in the big blind who withdrew his big blind and replaced it with the slightly bigger 211,000. Action back to the chip leader and he also withdrew his original bet and replaced it with a slightly larger one - 385,000 to be exact. Heinzelmann eyed up his own stack and for a moment we thought he was going to make a move but in the end he folded his hand leaving him with 1,300,000 in chips.
