Cheong's Flop Raise Gets It Done

From under the gun, Candido Gonçalves limped in. Jesus Sabater Muñoz raised to 3,600 from middle position and action folded to Joseph Cheong on the button. He called and everyone else folded, including the limper Gonçalves.

The flop came down {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Muñoz fired 3,700 with 18,500 behind. Cheong tossed out a raise to 32,000 and Muñoz only took a few seconds to fold.

Gueorguiev Gone

Atanas Gueorguiev called a raise to 2,300 from Jasper Wetemans out of the big blind. Wetemans had opened from middle position and the flop came down {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Gueorguiev checked and Wetemans bet 2,700. Gueorguiev made it 6,200 and Wetemans reraised to 13,700. Gueorguiev moved all in and Wetemans called for his last 65,000 or so. Gueorguiev tabled the {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the combo draw and was up against the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for Wetemans.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and the river the {7-Clubs}. Both missed Gueorguiev and he was left with just 4,000 in chips. On the next hand, Gueorguiev was eliminated.

Ramdin Chips Up

Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin

From under the gun, Team PokerStars Pro Victor Ramdin raised to 2,300. His only caller was Noureddine Ziane from the big blind and the two saw the flop come down {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Ziane checked and Ramdin bet 3,200. Ziane called.

Fourth street was the {6-Clubs} and both players checked to see the {10-Diamonds} land on the river. After Ziane checked, Ramdin fired 12,000. Ziane tanked for a little bit and then gave it up, allowing Ramdin to win the pot and move to 80,000 in chips.

Falling Fast

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We're flying through the field here in the early stages of the day.

We've broken six tables already, and we're getting close to breaking the seventh. With more than 60 bustees already headed off to sun themselves on the the beach, and we've got less than 350 players left as this first level nears its close.

Level: 11

Blinds: 600/1,200

TV Gripes

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Here on Day 2 at the 2011 PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona the television production crew it out in full effect filming all of the action, and we do mean, all of the action. On every all in, the dealer yells out "All in and call!" for the tournament area to hear. With that, the production team comes over and begins filming the action, but sometimes it takes a minute or two for the cameras to get to each table, especially when every all in and call is being yelled out and the crews are running all over the tournament area.

With the dealers halting the action until the cameras get there or someone tells them to continue without the cameras, vital minutes of every level are lost. Some of the players are upset with this and don't really see the need for filming every all-in situation when there are still a few hundred players left in the field. This is just one of the many issues players have had with this tournament since it began a few days ago.

Pagano Crippled then Eliminated

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Luca Pagano
Luca Pagano

Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano was crippled down to 1,200 before busting the very next hand.

Nick Yunis raised to 3,000 from under-the-gun before Pagano moved all-in for 17,500 from the small blind. Driss Bouchoiri was in the big blind and flat called. Yunis said, "Wow" and then called all-in for 16,900.

Pagano: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Bouchoiri: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Yunis: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to triple-up the Chilean.

Pagano won the side pot (1,200) but busted the very next hand.

McIntyre and the Ladies

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Mikhail Shakhnovich opened the pot to 2,500 from middle position, and Kamal Choraria flatted on the button. In the big blind, Alan McIntyre only had 20,500 chips left, and he squeezed them all in over the top. Shakhnovich re-shoved, and Choraria had about 35,000 left in front of him, and he calculated the pot odds verbally before settling on a fold. With the Irishman at risk, the cards were on their backs.

Showdown
Shakhnovich: {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}
McIntyre: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

The {5-Clubs} {J-Spades} {K-Spades} flop gave Shakhnovich another couple outs to work with, and the turn {6-Spades} added an additional nine as he was now drawing live to the nut flush as well. Any ace, jack, or spade was bad news for McIntyre, but the river {9-Clubs} was safe and sound. The queens hold, and McIntye will wipe a little sweat from his brow as he manages to escape with a double up.
