Engel Gives and Takes With Liviu

Ari Engel
Ari Engel

We picked up the start of this two-hand series as the dealer was spreading out a {5-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Diamonds} flop. Ignat Liviu led out with 22,000, and Ari Engel raised to 57,500. Liviu called the raise, and he check-called another 77,000 after the {5-Clubs} turn. The river brought the {8-Clubs} and one more check from Liviu, and Engel wasn't slowing down now. He bet what looked like 115,500, but Liviu check-raised all in for 162,000 total. Engel had no choice but to call, and Liviu's {4-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} was plenty good enough to win the pot. Because it was an all-in, Engel was forced to table his {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} before spinning them into the muck.

Engel - 445,000
Liviu - 620,000

On the next hand, Engel opened to 12,000 from the cutoff, and Liviu three-bet to 40,000 from the small blind. Engel flatted, and off they went heads-up again. The flop came {4-Spades} {5-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, and Engel called the 35,000-chip continuation bet. That slowed Liviu down, and he checked both the turn {Q-Clubs} and river {8-Diamonds}. Engel checked it back on the turn, but he decided a bet of 75,000 was in order after the river. Liviu tanked and folded.

Timex Doubles Back

Mike McDonald got the last ~145,000 of his chips into the middle with {9-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}, but he ran his pair into the overpair {J-Spades} {J-Hearts} of Nicolas Leger.

We missed the board, but we know there was a life-saving nine-ball on the river for McDonald, and he's found a lucky double to get back to the chip average.

Garri Tevosov
Garri Tevosov

Garri Tevosov raised from middle position to 14,000 and Walid Bou-Habib called from the cutoff seat. Martin Finger reraised from the button to 32,000 and play folded back to Tevosov. He flatted then Bou-Habib reraised all in for 171,500. Finger folded, but Tevosov called.

Tevosov: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Bou-Habib: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Tevosov won the pot to bust Bou-Habib.

Ruzicka Delivers a Huge Blow to Moorman

Chris Moorman
Chris Moorman

From the button, Chris Moorman raised to 13,500. Vojtech Ruzicka called out of the big blind and the flop came down {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Ruzicka checked and Moorman fired 18,500. Ruzicka called.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and Ruzicka checked again. Moorman fired 50,500 and Ruzicka check-raised to 103,500. Moorman flatted.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Ruzicka slid all of his chips forward for an all-in bet worth 208,000. Moorman took some time and then called.

Ruzicka tabled the {A-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a rivered pair of tens. Moorman angrily tabled the {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and a pair of nines and lost the pot. He was crushed back to 235,000, while Ruzicka moved to nearly 700,000.

The Swede is Coming

Things are going rather well for Dennis Bejedal here in this level, and we've just seen him send another player to the rail. It happened to be Rupert Elder, and he was the initial preflop raiser. Eli Heath three-bet in position, and Bejedal made a cold four-bet to 74,000 total. Elder shoved for about 280,000 total, Heath folded, and Bejedal made the quick call with his covering stack and the best hand.

Showdown
Elder: {9-Clubs} {9-Spades}
Bejedal: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}

Elder looked pretty bummed out, and he failed to catch up as the {4-Clubs} {J-Spades} {J-Hearts} {5-Spades} {K-Clubs} board sent him off to the payout desk.

Moorman Gives Streletskiy a Wave

Under the gun, Konstantin Streletskiy shoved his last 83,000 chips into the middle. Right next door, Chris Moorman reshoved for his full stack of 230,000, and that scared everyone else out of the pot. Streletskiy was heads-up and at risk, and the news was not good.

Showdown
Streletskiy: {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}
Moorman: {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {A-Spades} {9-Hearts} {8-Spades}, and Moorman's overpair held strong to earn him the knockout.

Lunkin Runs Out of Chips

Vitaly Lunkin (on Day 1a) - out
Vitaly Lunkin (on Day 1a) - out

In a battle of the blinds, Vitaly Lunkin went to war with his {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and his stack of about 260,000 chips. Mads Wissing called Lunkin's four-bet shove with {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}, and the race was on.

Lunkin shot out to an early lead on the {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, but his edge was short-lived. The {6-Hearts} turned to leave him dead right there, and the {K-Clubs} river is the last card Lunkin will see today.
