Yesterday, Phil Ivey had his aces cracked by the two pair of Raffaele Gerbi to put an end to his first buy-in. Ivey waited until the start of Day 2 to give it another try, but unfortunately for him he'd run into Gerbi once again.
According to Jason Mercier, who was kind enough to fill us in on the details, action folded to Gerbi in the small blind and he opened for 16,000. Ivey was in the big blind and opted to ship for around 260,000, which Gerbi called with . Ivey held the inferior and was in need of some help. The flop put out some runner-runner options, but the turn took them away. The river was of no consequence, and Gerbi eliminated Ivey for a second time.
