Sweet Caroline

The Mrs. of Guillaume Darcourt (her name is Caroline) has been darting around the tournament area this afternoon, doing some work while trying to keep an eye on the progress of her man.

He had been doing quite well, up around 50,000 before the bottom fell out. As Caroline tells us, within moments of her arrival at the table, Guillaume had both pocket kings and pocket aces cracked, then lost the rest on another bad beat to run his stack right down to zero.

Thanks to Mrs. Darcourt for the information, and condolences on the bad news about the tournament fate of her husband. His day is done, but she's still working hard over here.

Snippets From the Floor

  • Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen is doing what he needs to do to get his tournament back on track - putting chips in the middle. He made it to the river of a {4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} board and faced a 1,600 bet from Pablo Ubierna Martinez to his right. He bumped it up to 5,500 and forced a fold.
  • Jason Koon and Fraser Macintyre didn't have the goods to call, only to raise. Macintyre opened to 425 before Koon three-bet to 1,500 in position, and Patrick van Dijk shoved for 8,250 from the big blind. They both folded.
  • Nicolas Chouity, Eli Elezra and David Benyamine are all big players. The former took the latter off a hand on the turn of a {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades} board. Beyamine couldn't stand the heat of a 4,100 bet.

Rosen Out

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jamie Rosen, who was down to about 11,000 earlier is now out after he check-called all in for his last 5,500 on the river of a {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} board against Kent Rod. Rod flipped {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for top two pair and Rosen, since it was an all in situation, was forced to show his {A-Clubs}{4-} before heading to the rail.

The Haves and the Javiers

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Dominik Nitsche had called a bet of 1,125 on a flop of {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} against Javier Tazon, the latter check-calling a bet of 2,100 on the {J-Spades} turn.

Tazon also checked the {4-Clubs} river and Nitsche now fired out a slightly more substantial bet of 5,875 but Tazon didn't take too long in mucking against. The German flashed the {6-Hearts}..."It was good enough," said Tazon.

Big Pot For Clemencon

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

There was nearly 20,000 already in the middle when Joep van den Bijgaart checked across to Tristan Clemencon on the turn of a {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board, the Frenchman firing out 8,500. Jorge Galino Lopez on the button opted for a fold but van den Bijgaart took several minutes before he too elected to fold.

Clemencon has about 55,000 now.

Poker is Simple: Fold Kings, Call with Ten High

Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden

You always hear stories of players bemoaning the fact that they didn't have aces or kings all day and that they've been dealt junk hands. Players should be thankful for that; just ask Victor Ramdin and Johnny Lodden. The Team PokerStars Pros have differing tales with premium and junk hands.

Ramdin told us that he busted with pocket kings to the diminutive Ole [Removed:332] who held "them", aka, aces.

Moments later Johnny Lodden three-bet a cut-off raise whilst sat on the button. Armin Daniel Zoike four-bet from the small blind and the Norwegian made a call to a {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop. Zoike continued for 2,000 and Lodden called before both checked the {8-Diamonds} turn. The river fell {5-Spades} and the German checked to face a 4,900 bet. He tanked for minutes before folding only to be shown {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Cheeky.

A Walk+ For Jaka

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Richard Toth
Richard Toth

In early position, Richard Toth opened with a raise to 500, and the action folded around to the blinds. And then Toth folded. He's a bit busy pecking away on Twitter on his iPad, and it may have cost him his concentration for just a moment as he raise-folded with action pending. The floor was called to make sure of the ruling, but there was little decision. Toth's hand was dead, and Faraz Jaka ended up taking a valuable walk in the big blind.

A walk+, if you will.
