Ruzicka Fast Out of the Blocks

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Vojtech Ruzicka won the first hand played after the break and has now put some distance between himself and Timothy Reilly in second place.

Reilly opened to 90,000 in the small blind and Ruzicka called in the big blind. The {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop saw a continuation bet of 60,000 from Reilly and a call from Ruzicka.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} into the equation and Reilly tapped the table and checked. Ruzicka kept his foot firmly on the gas and set the price to continue in the hand at 135,000. Reilly called.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Reilly checked again. Ruzicka nonchalantly bet 325,000. This really gave Reilly something to think about. He removed his sunglasses and counted out the required calling chips, tapping a grey 5,000 chip on top of a pile of red 20,000 ones. After 30-40 seconds of thinking time Reilly folded and Ruzicka won the pot.

Alexandre Reard Eliminated in 3rd Place ( €105,700)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Alexandre Reard - 3rd place
Alexandre Reard - 3rd place

Alexandre Reard got his money in good but couldn't hold against the drawing hand of Timothy Reilly.

Reilly opened to 80,000 from under the gun and Reard peeled from the big blind to see a {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}. It didn't take long for both players to get their chips in and the cards were on their backs.

Reard: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for top pair.
Reilly: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a gutshot, overs and a backdoor flush draw.

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} to make Reilly a better pair.

Ruzicka Noses in Front

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Vojtech Ruzicka has taken a slight lead here after the first couple of hands of heads up.

Ruzicka opened to 80,000 on the button and Reilly called. The pair saw the dealer put out the {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} flop,a flop that Relly checked called a 95,000 bet on. The turn was the {2-Hearts}, Reilly checked and Ruzicka checked behind. Reilly checked for a third time when the {J-Diamonds} fell on the river. Ruzicka bet again, making it 140,000 to go and Reilly folded.

Chop it up

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

A big hand just occurred out of nowhere, but it resulted in a split pot.

The heads-up duo seemed to get to the river of a {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{A-Spades} board without any drama at all but the river saw the players explode into action. Ruzicka checked to Reilly and Reilly bet 240,000. Ruzicka then asked for a count of the bet size before check-raising to 610,000.

"This is so sick," said Reilly who then said something along the lines of "you have to know I have the straight."

Rusicka remained expressionless as he waited for Reilly to come to his decision. That decision was the call and the cards were revealed.

Reilly: {K-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Rusicka: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Both players held a straight and the pot was split.

Reilly Batters Ruzicka and then....

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Timothy Reilly won two significant pots without showdown before a cooler saw him double up Vojtech Ruzicka.

Reilly called a button raise from Ruzicka and a 80,000 c-bet on an {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop. Ruzicka bet 205,000 on the {6-Hearts} turn but folded when Reilly check-raised up to 410,000.

The very next hand after that Reilly limp-called a 120,000 raise. The flop fell {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Reilly called a 120,000 bet. On the {7-Clubs} turn Ruzicka check-called a 165,000 bet before he check-folded to a 240,000 bet from Reilly on the {j-Spades} river.

Then came the big preflop all in. Reilly four-bet to 420,000 after Ruzicka three-bet his 80,000 open to 21,000. Ruzicka responded by shoving for around 1.6 million and Reilly called quickly.

Reilly: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Ruzicka: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board ran a blank {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} to see Ruzicka reclaim the chip lead.

Ruzicka With a Huge Advantage

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Vojtech Ruzicka has a five-to-one chip lead and is now a big favorite to walk away with the title here in Deauville.

Timothy Reilly opened to 80,000 and Ruzicka three-bet to 210,000. Reilly called and it was off to the {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. Ruzicka lead for 175,000 and Reilly called. The {j-Spades} turn saw Rusicka check-call a 280,000 bet and you could sense all of the chips were about to go into the middle.

That wasn't the case though as the {5-Hearts} river was checked by both players.

Ruzicka opened {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Reilly couldn't beat that, so he mucked his hand.
