Day 5 Completed
The penultimate day of the PokerStars.es EPT Season 13 Barcelona €5,300 Main Event saw 24 hopefuls return to the tables of the Casino Barcelona, all guaranteed at least €33,300 for their efforts. Sebastian Malec held a sizable lead over his opponents and the PokerStars qualifier also reached the final table as well, securing the biggest payday on his poker resume thus far.
After six levels of 90 minutes each, Uri Reichenstein (11,330,000) edged out Thomas De Rooij (11,180,000) by less than one big blind. Mixed game specialist Adam “Adamyid” Owen follows in third place with 9,800,000 and the Brit set up the unofficial nine-handed final table with players from nine different countries by eliminating Morten Mortensen in tenth place with ace-ten versus ace-king.
They are joined by start-of-the-day leader Malec (7,330,000), Zorlu Er (7,090,000), Andreas Chalkiadakis (5,015,000) and Harcharan Dogra Dogra (1,700,000). Dogra Dogra is the last Spaniard in the field, hoping to keep the title on home soil, but will return with the shortest stack when play resumes in level 32 at blinds 100,000 / 200,000 and a running ante of 25,000.
2016 November Niner Vojtech Ruzicka was among the biggest names left in contention, but the Czech exited in 24th place. He first lost a big pot to Andrea Cortellazzi and then got his stack in with middle pair and a straight draw only to see Dogra Dogra look him up with the flopped straight. Other early casualties included Day 2 chip leader Anthony Chimkovitch (20th, for €49,170) and Michael Addamo (18th, for €49,170), while the last two tables were set with the elimination of Nuno Capucho in 17th place.
Mikahil Molchanov's run in the Main Event came to an end in 14th place after a cruel beat saw his pocket kings being cracked by Pavel Plesuv's pocket nines, when the king-high board gave the Moldovian a runner runner four-card straight. Konstantin Puchkov, who holds the most EPT cashes with 82 scores, followed in 13th when his king-queen failed to improve against the ace-king of De Rooij.
Cortellazzi and Alexandru Baron fell in 12th respectively 11th place and Mortensen then fell short of the final table after getting three-outered. Owen started the nine-handed final table with a strong lead and stayed in the top spot until the last few hands of the night.
Stephen Malone chipped up right away when the field was combined to the last table only to see his hopes getting crushed when his pocket kings were met by Er's ace-king and a cruel ace on the river.
Only two hands later, Plesuv fell in a three-way pot with pocket jacks after his straight draw and overpair could not improve against Reichenstein's flopped set of eights.
No further players would join the rail until the end of the sixth level of Day 5 and the remaining seven finalists have €230,950 locked up. However, all eyes are set on the first-place payout of €1,122,800, and a spot in the history books of poker by taking down the record-breaking Main Event with impressive 1,785 entries.

The remaining seven players have bagged up their chips and will return tomorrow at 1 p.m. local time, when the event plays down to a winner. There will be a live stream with hole cards available on a security delay of one hour.
A recap of today's action will be available shortly.
Hand #41: Adam Owen raised to 350,000 from the hijack position. Reichenstein made it 900,000 from the button and with the background noise of Thomas De Rooij celebrating that hero call in the previous call with his buddies on the rail, Owen makes the fold.
It has been a difficult few minutes to negotiate for the British player, but he is still second in chips despite slipping back to seven figures and third in chips. He had the chip lead just three minutes ago.
Hand #42: Short-stacked player Harcharan Dogra Dogra raised to 360,000 from under the gun and Reichenstein three-bet to 825,000 from the cut-off. Dogra Dogra now had a huge decision, and decided to call.
The flop of saw Dogra Dogra check, but Reichenstein didn't, he bet 325,000. That was enough for ....no! Dogra Dogra went to push his chips over the line then like a horse at the biggest fence of all, reared up and stopped dead in his tracks.
"Tomorrow." said Dogra Dogra, and he smiled as he folded his cards.
Harcharan Dogra Dogra will be back tomorrow with eights big blinds and he will have a mountain to climb. But he will be back...and so will we.
Hand #40: Adam Owen raised to 360,000 from the cutoff and Thomas De Rooij called in the big blind. The Dutchman checked the flop and Owen continued for 300,000 and De Rooij called.
After the turn, De Rooij checked for the second time and Owen bet 770,000, which De Rooij called. The river saw De Rooij check, and Owen slowly cut out a bet of 1,150,000 before sliding it forward.
After two minutes, De Rooij called and immediately smiled when Owen showed for a busted flush draw. De Rooij only had for a pair of queens with ace kicker, but that won the hand and put De Rooij into the lead.

Hand #38: On the button, Harcharan Dogra Dogra raised to 330,000 and Sebastian Malec called in the big blind.
On the flop, Malec reached for chips and bet 345,000. Dogra Dogra called and the provided a second pair on the board. The action went check, check, and the river completed the board.
Malec took his time before betting 875,000 and Dogra Dogra fell for it, snap-called and mucked when he was shown for a full house by Malec.
Hand #39: Thomas De Rooij raised to 350,000 from under the gun and Andreas Chalkiadakis called from one seat over, as did Uri Reichenstein in the big blind.
On the flop, action checked to Chalkiadakis and he bet 525,000 and Reichenstein called, De Rooij folded. The turn saw both players check and the river paired the board. Again both checked and Reichenstein showed to win the pot.

Hand 34#: Turkish player Zorlu Er made it 350,000 from under the gun, and Dogra Dogra called from the next seat. Uri Reichenstein on the button, however, raised to 1,075,000. That did not deter Andreas Chalkiadakis....at least for three minutes until the clock is called. He even reached for the 4-bet....before folding! Zorlu Er asked for a count, then folded. Everyone folded and Reichenstein wins what surely is one of the longest three-bet-fold-round pots in history.
Hand #35: Chalkiadakis limped in the small blind, Er checked to a flop of whereupon Chalkiadakis' bet of 180,000 was called. The turn of was checked to, but the river saw a bet of 360,000 from Chalkiadakis. Er called and his took it down against Chalkiadakis' .
Hand #36: Uri Reichenstein made it 350,000 from the hijack position, and Thomas De Rooij three-bet to 1,125,000. Folded to Reichestein, he also folded, and De Rooij took one.
Hand #37: De Rooij made 350,000 from the hijack in the next hand. Chalkiadakis called in the cut off, so too did Er on the button and both the blinds fold.
The flop of saw De Rooij bet out 600,000 and Er eventually folded.
Hand #31: Thomas De Rooij raised to 350,000 from the hijack and Harcharan Dogra Dogra called from the small blind. Adam Owen in the big stared at the stack of his table neighbor and put in the extra chips as well, heading three-way to the flop.
Dogra Dogra checked, as did Owen, and De Rooij checked behind. The appeared on the turn and Dogra Dogra quickly checked. There was no betting action behind the Spaniard and the river completed the board. Action checked to De Rooij bet 475,000 and Dogra Dogra called, Owen folded.
De Rooij showed for a bluff and Dogra Dogra won the pot with for a pair of jacks.
Hand #32: On the button, Owen raised to 360,000 and Uri Reichenstein called in the big blind. The flop came and Reichenstein checked, Owen bet 540,000 and that won the pot.
Hand #33: Owen raised to 360,000 from the cutoff and Thomas De Rooij defended the big blind. On the flop, De Rooij checked and Owen bet 300,000 to force yet another fold.

Hand #28: Harcharan Dogra Dogra made it 320,000 from early position. Reichenstein called from the button and both blinds folded.
The flop of saw Dogra Dogra check, but Reichenstein bet 380,000. Dogra Dogra folded quick as a flash.
