Carrel Cut Out

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Bryn Kenney shoved over a Charlie Carrel open and Carrel made the call, dominating Kenney's {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} with his {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

But that's why they have flops, turns and rivers. Kenney got there on a {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} board to double big and leave Carrel short.

Just a few hands later, Byron Kaverman raised to 35,000, and called when Carrel shoved for 110,000.

Kaverman had {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and would triumph over Carrel's {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} when the board ran out {2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

Luca Pays Off Kanit

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Mustapha Kanit has extended his lead by taking a big pot off Ivan Luca. The Italian raised to 33,000 and then called a three-bet to 101,000 by Luca to see a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Both players checked and Kanit then bet the {8-Hearts} turn for 135,000. Luca peeled another card and then was then confronted with a bet of 385,000 on the {5-Diamonds} river.

Luca cut out his stack carefully, then called and saw the bad news when Kanit showed {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a straight.

Fatehi Scoops Pot

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Ali Reza Fatehi opened to 42,000 and Ole Schemion called before Sergey Lebedev squeezed it to 115,000. Both his opponents called and they headed to a flop of {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Fatehi was first to act as Lebedev sat on the button and the Iranian took down the pot with a bet of 125,000.

After the hand was over, he shook hands with his new table neighbor Mike McDonald.

Greenwood Dominates Vogelsang

Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Sam Greenwood made it 45,000 and Christoph Vogelsang three-bet to 115,000. Greenwood four-bet jammed and Vogelsang called it off with the {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Greenwood was in dominating position with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and held through the {j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board to double through.

Lebedev Loses Flip to Timex

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Sergey Lebedev
Sergey Lebedev

Mike McDonald raised to 45,000 from the button and the action folded to Sergey Lebedev in the big blind. He squeezed to 145,000 and Timex asked "can I see your stack" before pushing all in. Lebedev had around 430,000 chips and called to enter a coin flip for his tournament life.

Lebedev: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
McDonald: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The flop {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} was as blank as it could be, but the {A-Spades} turn improved Timex to aces and fives. A blank {10-Diamonds} river sent the Russian to the rail and he just gasped out a "Mike, Mike" with a dry smile on the face.

Kanit Pays Off Luca

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Mustapha Kanit raised to 43,000 from the cutoff and Ivan Luca made it 78,000 to go from the small blind to see the Italian come along. On the {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop, Luca continued for 95,000 and was looked up by the chip leader to fire another 195,000 on the {A-Diamonds} turn. Again, Kanit called and then faced the shove of Luca for 325,000 total.

Kanit gave it some thought and eventually called, putting his opponent on a bluff after their most recent confrontation. However, this time Luca had it with {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} for top set and Kanit's attempt to muck his {2-Clubs}{2-Spades} was revealed by the dealer as per rule for all in showdowns.

Cruel Exit for Behbehani

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Salman Behbehani
Salman Behbehani

Salman Behbehani had patiently waited for his chance, barely played any hand, and then open-shoved from middle position. One seat over, Ali Reza Fatehi asked "how much?" and the dealer counted out 289,000. The Iranian called and everyone else got out of the way.

Behbehani: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Fatehi: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop was no threat yet for Behbehani, but the {Q-Diamonds} turn was as scary as it could get. Ultimately, it was the {5-Diamonds} river that completed the bad beat story and Behbehani left the tournament area. After some initial joy, Fatehi apologized for the beat and jumped into the lead.

Kanit and Luca At It Again

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

From first position, Mustapha Kanit raised to 43,000. Ivan Luca in the hijack made the call, and big blind Igor Kurganov came along for the ride as well. The flop came {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Kurganov checked. Kanit fired 57,000 into the middle and just Luca called, Kurganov folded. Kanit checked the {4-Spades} turn, but called Luca's 137,000 bet.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board and Kanit checked again. Luca bet a hefty 590,000 and it took Kanit several minutes before making up his mind and folding.

The next hand, the two were at it again. Action folded to Kanit on the button and he made it 43,000. Luca called from the small blind and check called a bet of 45,000 on {5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. The {J-Spades} on the turn was checked through and the {A-Diamonds} hit the river. Luca lead out for 125,000, and was soon met by a raise to 360,000 from Kanit. Luca thought about it for a bit before laying it down.
