Scafini Bags Monster Stack on Day 1d of €1,100 FPS Main Event

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Trophy
Trophy

After four flights of action in Event #1: €1,100 FPS Main Event, a total of 287 players have advanced to Day 2 and are guaranteed at least a min-cash. Leading the way come tomorrow, Lucas Scafini will be the only player with a seven-figure chip stack after bagging a whopping 1,101,000 chips on Day 1d. There were a total of 349 entries in the fourth and final flight and 52 players advanced to Day 2.

It was the shortest flight in terms of time due to the 20-minute levels, but in terms of levels, this flight went the furthest as they reached level 18 with the blinds at 5,000/10,000. Scafini took full advantage of the extended length and pushed his big stack around in the last few levels.

The Italian was also the one who burst the bubble at 2 a.m. when Ikam Benyeffou flopped top pair from the big blind and shoved into Scafini's pocket aces. Scafini held on to put a rest to all of the Day 1 flights but will still have a long road ahead of him if he wishes to capture the title.

Some other big stacks moving on from Day 1d include [Removed:388] (607,000), Teddy Kefalas (595,000), Alexandre Poulain (493,000), and Jamie Flynn (489,000). Some other notables that will have a shot at the title include Tibor Nagygyorgy (136,000), Ana Marquez (118,000), and Aylar Lie (50,000). One of the surprising stories was Andrea Albonetti who squeaked into the money with just 3,000 chips, less than one big blind.

When the action resumes for Day 2, the blinds will be rolled back to 2,000/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. That was the level that Day 1c finished where 139 players advanced out of a total of 927 entries. The blind levels will also increase to 60-minutes in length going forward and a champion will be crowned on Day 4.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the event going forward.

Shahade Can't Catch with Big Slick

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jennifer Shahade
Jennifer Shahade

Richard Saul opened to 4,000 in early position and Jen Shahade shoved all in on the button, covering the stacks of the remaining players. Hrayr Grigoryan thought for a minute and then called off his stack of 40,400 from the big blind, which got a fold from Saul.

Hrayr Grigoryan: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Jen Shahade: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

It was a coin flip and the flop of {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades} left Grigoryan in the lead with his pair of sixes. The {9-Clubs} and {9-Spades} runout missed Shahade as well as she sent a double up across the table.

Aldemir Spikes a Three-Outer

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

Koray Aldemir just sat down in his seat for the first time tonight and wasted little time getting in on the action with a raise to 2,000 from under the gun. Filippo Lazzaretto shoved all in for 6,500 on his left and the action folded back to Aldemir who quickly called.

Filippo Lazzaretto: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Koray Aldemir: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}

They both shared a laugh as Aldemir was pipped by one card heading to the {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. "Split?" Aldemir asked as they both picked up a wheel draw.

The reigning WSOP Main Event champion got better than a split as the {a-Clubs} and {8-Clubs} runout gave him two pair to eliminate Lazzaretto.

Darmani's Big Bet Gets Called

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Antony Darmani
Antony Darmani

The action folded to Antony Darmani in the small blind who made it 400 to go. Jean Zeitoun called from the big blind and the flop came {j-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}. Both players checked and the {2-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Darmani led out with a large bet of 1,500 and Zeitoun called to see the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Darmani fired out another bet of 3,100 this time but Zeitoun looked him up. Darmani showed {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for a missed combo draw while Zeitoun held {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for the only pair.

Day 1d of €1,100 FPS Main Event Will Kick Off at 7 p.m.

EPT Monte Carlo
EPT Monte Carlo

The fourth and final flight of €1,100 FPS Main Event is slated to begin at 7 p.m. local time at the PokerStars European Poker Tour presented by Monte-Carlo Casino. Flight 1d was originally expected to start at 6 p.m. but has been pushed back by one hour in order to make room in the tournament areas due to larger than expected fields.

There are currently around 1,500 total entries through the first three flights, with registration still open for Day 1c. There were 55 players who bagged chips on Day 1a and another 41 advancing through Day 1b. Those that fortunate to make it through to Day 2 on April 30 will all be guaranteed a min-cash, the prize amount still to be determined. Either way, the eventual winner will be walking away with a nice payday as the prizepool has already surpassed the €1.5 million mark.

Because of the late start time for Day 1d and the quick turnaround time for Day 2, the final flight will be played as a turbo format with just 20-minute blind levels. Each player will be given a starting stack of 30,000 chips with the blinds starting at 100/100 and a 100 big blind ante.

There will be 15-minute breaks after every five levels with no dinner break taking place. Late registration for this event will officially be closed at the end of level 10. The players will continue throughout the night until just 15% of the field remains and the money bubble is burst. Day 2 will kick off at 12 p.m. noon tomorrow with the champion being crowned on Day 4.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the event, en route to crowning an eventual champion.
