It Gets Messy Against Cessy for Tadger

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The stack of around 120,000 already went into the middle by Joezer Tadger and he was snapped off by Laurent Cessy, who joked after all was over that his opponent was daring them to get the chips in.

Joezer Tadger: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Laurent Cessy: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

There was no help for the dominated pair on the {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades} board as Tadger became one of the early casualties on Day 2.

Wheeler Knocks Out Palvini

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jeremy Palvini was spotted on his short way to the payout desk as his former table was right next to the waiting line. His cards were mucked already as the table talked about what happened.

"He really jammed more than 30 blinds with ace-nine off?" one of the players inquired and Jason Wheeler nodded. "Yeah, six thousand, 19,000 and all-in, snap-call," the American poker pro said with a big smile on the face.

It was Wheeler after all who had scored the knockout when his {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} prevailed on a board of {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}. That pot pushed the American well above the average while Palvini can now take advantage of the sunny weather at the French Riviera.

Colom Doubles Through Bendinelli

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Giuliano Bendinelli opened to 12,000 from middle position and Maxime Colom jammed for 80,000 on the button. Action folded back to Bendinelli who thought about it and ultimately called.

Maxime Colom: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Giuliano Bendinelli: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The dealer spread the {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, and the {q-Diamonds} turn secured the pot for Colom, while the {10-Clubs} river paired Bendinelli too late and Colom took the pot.

Nguyen and Ciccone Fall to Cervantes

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Thi Xoa Nguyen
Thi Xoa Nguyen

On a completed board of {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}, Thi Xoa Nguyen leveled herself into calling all-in when facing the push by Jaime Cervantes and flashed her {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for the top pair. However, she ran smack dab into the {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the flopped nuts and was sent to the payout desk.

Only one hand later, Riccardo Ciccone pushed for 86,000 from under the gun and Cervantes called from two seats over while all other players folded.

Riccardo Ciccone: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Jaime Cervantes: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and the suited overcards missed for Cervantes to score the next knockout.

Isaia Among Latest Casualties

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The Day 2 field is already whittled down to fewer than 210 players and among the latest casualties was Italian PLO cash game specialist Alessio Isaia.

Isaia's cards were in the muck as the floorman collected his media ticket and the chips were pushed to Kevin Bismuth. The latter had the winning hand in {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, which made top pair and top kicker on a board of {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Also on the same table are Danut Chisu and Linda van de Ree with the latter in the danger zone below ten big blinds.

D'Anselmo Finds Help to Survive

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Fabrice Maltez had chips committed to the pot in middle position, as did Lucas Scafini one seat over. Nicola D'anselmo jammed hhis 32,000 chips in from the big blind, Maltez rejammed, and Scafini briefly thought about it but folded.

Nicola D'anselmo: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Fabrice Maltez: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

D'anselmo was pipped but the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop vaulted him ahead. The {q-Diamonds} turn improved him to a boat as the {7-Clubs} completed the board to confirm the result.

Forestiero Finds Aces for a Double

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Roberto Forestiero got it in for around 75,000 and Jacob Amsellem was the one to put him at risk. Once Forestiero turned over his cards, Amsellem was reluctant to show, which drew the ire of another player.

"If you're both in just show!" said the frustrated table mate.

Amsellem finally turned them over and had a lot of work to do.

Roberto Forestiero: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Jacob Amsellem: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the aces held to double through Amsellem.

The discussion about the slow flip continued as Forestiero dragged the pot.

"If you want drama, I'll take you out on the town, but if you're both in just turn them over," the frustrated opponent said as Amsellem did his best to ignore the conversation.

Mokri Battles With Gicovanu

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

In a three-bet pot to the {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} flop, Marius Gicovanu continued for 38,000 and was called by Kayhan Mokri. The {2-Spades} turn slowed down Gicovanu and he checked. Mokri bet 54,000 and that won the pot right there as both players held nearly even stacks around half a million. Their table broke right after as both headed different ways.
