Wagner Ripper is still hopeful to make back-to-back final tables in the €2,200 FPS High Roller. He finished third in the iteration at EPT Paris for €136,050 and is looking to best that score here in Monte Carlo.
When Viliyan Petleshko raised his button to 40,000, Ripper ripped in his stack of 250,000 from the big blind and received an instantaneous call from Petleshko.
Wagner Ripper: Q♥Q♦
Viliyan Petleshko: 9♥9♠
Ripper was a huge favorite to double up and achieved that feat when the board ran out J♥6♠6♥J♠10♥, keeping his dream of a victory alive.
Luis De Faria opened to 24,000 in early position and was called by Julien Bolimowski in the hijack and Dan Djorno in the big blind. The flop came K♣7♦4♥ and De Faria continued with a bet of 32,000. Bolimowski just called and Djorno came along as well.
The turn was the 2♥ and the action checked to Bolimowski who pushed out a bet of 100,000. Djorno called and De Faria got out of the way. The A♥ landed on the river and Djorno ripped all in for 199,000. Bolimowski put his head on the table as he deliberated for a couple of minutes.
Eventually, Bolimowski made the call and Djorno flipped over K♥6♥ for the nut flush. Bolimowski was furious as he slammed his chips into the pot, rambled some French words, and was forced to take a walk around the table to cool off. He even made it back to the table to take a picture of the cooler though.
David Vinayagamoorthy raised it up in early position and Demosthenes Kiriopoulos counted out a three-bet to 55,000 in the cutoff. Vinayagamoorthy responded with a four-bet to around 130,000 and Kiriopoulos five-bet jammed all in for 380,000. Vinayagamoorthy called it off with slightly less and the cards were tabled.
David Vinayagamoorthy: Q♣Q♦
Demosthenes Kiriopoulos: K♣K♦
Kiriopoulos woke up with the better of the two pocket pairs and had both of the suits covered as well. The board ran out A♥5♠4♦4♠9♦ and Vinayagamoorthy was eliminated.
Good friends Benjamin Spragg and Conor Beresford were just eliminated simultaneously on adjacent tables.
Spragg played a three-bet pot with ace-jack suited, according to his own words ''like a fool'', and could not beat his opponent Enrico Camosci who is now playing nearly 90 big blinds.
On the other hand, Beresford could not muster a win with his pocket queens.
Both players left the tournament area together while discussing their respective hands.
A lot of players entered Day 2 short stacked and ''seat open!'', is heard frequently throughout the tournament room.
On one table, Cesar Garcia went all in for 58,000 into a pot of nearly 100,000. The completed board of K♣4♣A♠10♣5♣ was spread and Jensen Bernard was in early position and made the call after getting an exact count.
Cesar Garcia: 5♠3♠
Jensen Bernard: A♦J♣
Garcia's bluff had run into the top pair of Bernard, and he was swiftly eliminated in the early stages of Day 2.
Over at another table, Govert Metaal had jammed his final 75,000 or so chips preflop and had gotten called by Thierry Oldak.
Govert Metaal: 3♦3♣
Thierry Oldak: A♣K♥
A flip for Metaal to stay alive, but he failed to do so as the board ran out 10♦J♦9♣10♣K♣.
These were just two of the fourteen eliminations so far on Day 2, as the action is plentiful and quick.
