In a frantic day of poker here at PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona, a field of 2,175 entrants for the €550 Estrellas Poker Cup has been whittled down to 326 for Day 2, following two bust outs during hand-for-hand play.

Those numbers generated a prize pool of €1,044,000, with all players through to Day 2 guaranteed a minimum cash of €840.

Players who navigate their way to the final table will be guaranteed a payout of €14,390, while the winner will take home the princely sum of €155,480.

2021 WSOP Main Event podium finisher Jack Oliver (409,000) lurks in the top twenty, but it is Edgar Ishida of Brazil who leads the way heading into the final day, having amassed a stack of 888,000. He is closely followed by British player Kian Kiani (865,000) and Diogo Simoes (859,000) of Portugal.

Ishida has total recorded lifetime cashes of $38,000, and will have his sights set on his first career six-figure score. Kiani's only previous recorded result is a cash in the 2023 EPT Barcelona ESPT Main Event, while Simoes is also seeking a breakthrough result.

Sleiman Shows River Bluff

Level 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

A huge pot of 270,000 had developed on a completed board of 97627, in a hand between Jorge Lopes on the button and Hassan Sleiman in the small blind.

Sleiman jammed the river for 153,000 and Lopes went deep into the tank. After about three minutes of thought, Lopes folded and Sleiman showed J8 for jack-high, having missed his flopped up and down straight draw and turned flush draw.

Sleiman let out a deep sigh of relief and raked in a big pot.

Rad Correctly Folds Rockets on River

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

A sizeable pot of around 125,000 had already developed on a completed board of K93510, in a hand between Robert Rad in middle position and Selim Aghar in the cutoff.

Rad checked to his opponent, who moved all in for around 200,000, sending Rad deep into the tank. After a few minutes had passed, the clock was called.

As time was ticking down, Rad tapped the table to his opponent, and open-folded AA. Amghar looked surprised and showed KJ for flopped top pair kings that improved to a rivered king-high flush.

Rad stepped away from the table and thumped his chest in celebration, as the rest of the table congratulated him on a quality fold.
