Cohen and Gorelik Out; Georgopoulos Stops Molenaar's Run

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Michel Molenaar
Michel Molenaar

A massive pot was brewing over on table 59 right before it broke when Massou Cohen eventually called all-in against the large bet of Michel Molenaar on a board reading KQ2610. Molenaar revealed his QQ for a set of queens and Cohen exposed his K10 for two pair.

One more hand was to be played on the table and the open raise of Albert Gorelik in the cutoff was called by Ioannis Georgopoulos as well as Molenaar in the blinds.

On the 875 flop, it checked to Gorelik who bet 4,000. Georgopoulos check-raised to 16,000 and Molenaar reraised to 80,000 which covered both opponents. Gorelik called all-in and so did Georgopoulos.

Albert Gorelik: A6
Ioannis Georgopoulos: 55
Michel Molenaar: 98

The 10 turn was a sweat for the Dutchman but the K river ensured the double-up of Georgopoulos for 47,700, while Gorelik was eliminated.

As everyone gathered their chips and belongings to find new tables, Molenaar joked "I run so bad ... also cracked Fintan's aces with ace-king suited".

Lexy Gavin-Mather
Lexy Gavin-Mather

In a battle of the blinds, Lexy Gavin-Mather and Peter Jaksland invested 6,800 preflop to see a flop of 753. Gavin-Mather bet 8,500 and earned a call from Jaksland before she jammed the K turn and Jaksland snap-called.

Lexy Gavin-Mather: AA
Peter Jaksland: 77

Gavin-Mather grabbed her phone to record the showdown once more and needed an ace to stay alive on Day 1c. The river was the blank 8 and she quickly inquired if Jaksland had her covered before adding "nice hand," then exiting the tournament area.

With a six-figure stack not long ago, a series of setbacks knocked her stack to zero.

David Docherty had lost even more chips but then got a shove through versus Jean Paul Zaffran. Shortly after, he was the raiser against Giuseppe Rago from under the gun, who simply limp-jammed for his stack of fifty blinds. Docherty called for the 33,700 he had behind.

David Docherty: QQ
Giuseppe Rago: AQ

Once the cards were turned over, Rago leaped out of his chair and turned around, seemingly not wanting to see the outcome.

The pocket pair remained ahead all the way on the K4448 board for Docherty to double.

Shimizu Leaves Sacksick on Fumes

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Nozomu Shimizu raised to 1,600 from under the gun and picked up three callers. David Sacksick was among them and bet 3,000 out of the small blind on the 1032 flop. Shimizu called, as did Ali Bayrak in the cutoff. On the J turn, Sacksick bet another 6,000 and this time it was only Shimizu who called.

On the 2 river, Sacksick bet 9,000 and Shimizu raised to 33,000. After a brief tank, Sacksick called for almost his entire stack. Shimizu rolled over the JJ for jacks full of deuces and Sacksick was depleted, flashing his cards briefly before tossing them to the muck.
