Biography

Mateusz Moolhuizen is a professional poker player from the Netherlands, best known for winning the €1,100 FPS Main Event for €470,830 during the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris festival.

Moolhuizen, a multi-table tournament specialist, has a string of impressive results on his poker resume. In March 2011, Moolhuizen took down the €1,650 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event at the Unibet Open Malta festival and padded his bankroll with €117,000. Moolhuizen defeated fellow Dutchman Tobias Peters heads-up, resigning Peters to a €76,000 consolation prize. He became a two-time Unibet Open champion with his victory in Antwerp in 2015, a result that earned Moolhuizen €71,000.

In October 2015, Moolhuizen navigated his way to the final table of the bwin.be WPT National Brussels Main Event, but he came up short, busting in eighth place.

Including online poker events, Moolhuizen has 20 cashes in World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournaments. A 25th place finish, from 5,702 entrants, in the $1,111 One More for One Drop at the 2022 WSOP earned Moolhuizen a healthy $22,554. Earlier in the 2022 WSOP, Moolhuizen finished second in the $1,500 Monster Stack, losing out heads-up to American Mike Jukich; Moolhuizen banked a cool $597,362 that day.

February 2024 saw Moolhuizen become a poker champion at the EPT Paris festival at the Le Palais des Congres in the French capital. Moolhuizen was one of 4,149 entrants in the record-breaking €1,100 FPS Main Event and was the last player standing. Moolhuizen found himself heads-up with Slovenia's Blaz Zerjav for the title. The pair fought tooth and nail to become this event's champion, but the night belonged to the Dutchman, when his ace-seven remained best against Zerjav's king-queen, locking in the title and €470,830 for Moolhuizen.
