Markkos Ladev opened to 16,000 from early position. Derk van Luijk to his left three-bet to 40,000, then all the other players folded to Ladev who called.
The dealer fanned a flop of 7♠5♣2♠ and Van Luijk continued for 55,000. Ladev check-raised all-in and Van Luijk snap-called, finding himself at risk for 207,000.
Derk van Luijk: A♣A♥
Markkos Ladev: K♠Q♠
Ladev had a flush draw, but the Q♣9♣ runout didn't complete his flush so Van Luijk secured a double up.
Heads-up on a flop of A♠4♣10♣, Teun Mulder in middle position bet 8,000, and snap-called after Niklas Astedt in the big blind check-raised all-in for 46,000.
Niklas Astedt: Q♣5♣
Teun Mulder: A♣8♣
Both players had a flush draw, but Mulder hit the nut flush thanks to the 2♣ turn so Astedt was eliminated after the 4♦ river.
The PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague at the Hilton Prague continues today with the conclusion of the third Super High Roller tournament of the series; the €25,000 Super High Roller Second Chance. A total field of nine was amassed by the end of the night, but with registration still open until the start of play on Day 2, this number is only expected to grow with seven players returning at the start of the day.
Markkos Ladev comes into the start of play with the overall chip lead having converted his starting stack of 250,000 into a final sum of 687,000.
Yesterday’s action saw Ladev take the chip lead in a matter of hands: although Derk van Luijk believed he’d found the dream flop, having made trips, he was only two streets away from finding out Ladev’s pocket pair had also flopped a full house.
Ladev retained this early momentum, ending the day exactly how he started it - the chip leader.
