May I see your I.D.?

Annette
Annette
There are a number of VERY young faces in today's field, such as 18-year old Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad and 19-year old Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke, due to the fact that the legal age to play poker in Europe is 18 as opposed to 21 in the U.S. These two young superstars are still several years away from chasing their first WSOP bracelets, but have already made great strides in both online play and in live events outside the U.S. Fricke was the runner-up in the 2007 Aussie Millions in January while Obrestad recently won over $117,000 for first place in the Full Tilt Poker $500,000 Guarantee.

Gobboboy = Early Chipleader

Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke
Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke
Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke is off to a hot start, despite drawing a table with two of Europe's toughest pros, Jani Sointula and Rob Hollink.

An unknown player paid off Fricke after he turned a flush with {10-Spades}{7-Spades} on a board of {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. After he dragged the pot, Fricke's chipstack topped over 16,000. He jumped out to an early chiplead.

251 Players Remaining

Out of the 263 runners in Day 1a, around 251 remain. There is late registration for this event up until Level 3. So if you are a poker player in the Barcelona area and have €8,000 to burn, come on down to the Casino Barcelona.

Dinner Break for Half the Field

With the conclusion of the second level of play, half the field (tables 1-14) have been sent on dinner break while the other half (tables 15-30) will take an 11-minute break before returning to play for another 45 minutes. They will then take their dinner break as the first half of the field returns to play Level 3.

A "players buffet" has conveniently been set up for all tournament participants right next to the playing area.
