Isaac Haxton Eliminated in 6th Place (£103,000)

Didn't think he'd have aces
Didn't think he'd have aces
Haxton raised to 25,000, only for Juanda to make it 75,000 from the big blind. Haxton took some time over his decision. Very often when Haxton is in a big hand he looks so nervous he might have a heart attack, his hands covering his mouth, his eyes flitting all over the place. But he looked curiously calm when he pushed the rest of his chips across the line, which was perhaps not the right reaction as Juanda immediately said, "I have to call," and did just that. The reason:

Juanda: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}
Haxton: {8-Spades} {8-Clubs}

Haxton is smiling, but in that manner which suggests it's either that or cry. He's drawing dead by the turn of the {Q-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {4-Spades} {J-Spades} board, Haxton is hacked right down and we lose our sixth-place finisher.

Battle of the Blinds

Although Scotty Nguyen teased pushing all in UTG, the actions folded around to Peter Jetten who limped in the small blind. Michael Watson bet 20,000 from the big, and Jetten called.

Both players checked down a {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} board before Jetten took down the pot with a bet of 37,000 on the {8-Hearts} river.

Scotty Not Too Hotty

Jason Mercier raises to 27,000 and it folds around to Scotty Nguyen in the big blind. Utterly desperate, he must really hate his hand as he passes, leaving himself just 41,000 behind with the blinds at 5,000/10,000/1,000.

Reraise from Watson

Jason Mercier raised UTG with Scotty Nguyen in the big blind, but Michael Watson put the American to the test by making it 80,000 from the small blind. Both Nguyen and Mercier folded.

Nguyen Wins Hand, Remains Short

Scotty goes all in for just 33,000 although he announces 33 million, and it folds to Juanda in the small blind who thinks about it. "I double you up yesterday," says Nguyen, "Come on, you can double me up." Juanda isn't convinced though and folds. Then on to Jetten on the big blind. Says Scotty, "Call! Call! Call!" Jetten obeys, and it's looking good for Scotty.

Scotty: {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}
Jetten: {7-Spades} {8-Hearts}

Board (please imagine a massive "Ooooh!" in the press room on each street): {10-Spades} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

Even though Jetten picks up a lot of outs along the flop and turn, Scotty doubles up his micro-stack to a mere mini-stack and stays in the game with six big blinds to his name.
