Goodbye-Miller

Also a goner is Dan Heimiller, who found himself all in with {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} against Dennis Phillips' {A-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}. The board came down {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} along with a fifth card that was neither a club nor a deuce -- the seven played and with a surprisingly loud exclamation of, "S***!!!" Heimiller was gone.

The Conquest of Nordkvist

And they're dropping like proverbial flies now -- also gone is Joel Nordkvist, who raised under the gun and got himself called by a now be-sunglassed Jason Mercier in the big blind. Mercier checked the {4-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {7-Clubs} flop and Nordkvist bet 7,100; Mercier then raised to 45,000, well covering Nordkvist. After an almost interminable time in the tank, Nordkvist called, and he was no good.

Nordkvist: {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts}
Mercier: {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}

Turn: {K-Spades}
River: {6-Spades}

Off he goes.

Disaster for Praz

Incredibly unlucky
Incredibly unlucky
Jani Sointula raised form the button and Praz Bansi in the blind reraised. Eventually they were both all in and on their proverbial backs.

Sointula: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}
Bansi: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}

Flop: {J-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Spades}

Turn: {6-Hearts}

River (close your eyes, Praz fans): {Q-Clubs}

Bansi, a well-known and well-liked UK pro who freerolled his way into this tournament, looked as close to vomiting as I have ever seen a poker player look while still at the table. Sointula doubled up to 89,000, while Praz was down to just 13,000.

A dejected Bansi got the last of his chips in a few hands later with {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} against John Juanda's {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}, and a {10-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} board put his cashing dreams to sleep.
