Going for Gould

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

It's a short tournament for Britain's Alex Goulder, he got all his chips in on the turn of a {Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} board with {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} but Francisco Torres turned over {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for a bigger set. The {4-Clubs} river made no difference and the Spaniard won a hefty pot.

Brummelhuis Takes It Down

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

The player in the cut off opened for 475, and Michiel Brummelhuis in the big blind was the only caller.

Brummelhuis check called a 550 bet on {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Spades}, and both of them checked the {7-Clubs} on the turn. The {6-Spades} on the river made Brummelhuis bet out 1,500, and his opponent folded after some thinking.

McDonald Maintaining

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Mike McDonald
Mike McDonald

Mike McDonald saw a three-way flop of {2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and called a bet of 800. It then went heads-up to the turn card {7-Spades}. It was checked to McDonald who carefully placed out a bet of 1,500 and his opponent made the call.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and it was checked to McDonald who gave the board a long hard stare before placing out a 4,000 bet. His opponent instantly mucked and McDonald crept back up to just under starting stack.

Torres Wrong Against Wrang

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Paco "El Tren" Torres
Paco "El Tren" Torres

With a board of {10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, Francisco Torres checked. There was a problem with that though, as it wasn't his turn. Jannick Wrang was in the small blind and was first to act.

Wrang eventually bet out 1,400, and Torres instantly called.

The river came the {4-Clubs} and Wrang bet out 2,000. Torres folded his {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} face up and Wrang mucked.

ElkY Chopped Down

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

A tale of two ace-kings has put paid to Bertrand Grospellier's hopes of a second EPT title. First he called Tommie Janssen's all in on the river of an {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Spades}{5-Clubs} board with {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} only to find Janssen with {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

This left the Frenchman with just 1,400 left which went in with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} soon after against {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} but the latter flopped a flush on the {4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} board to knock out the Team PokerStars Pro.

Drawy Board Gets Scarier Every Card

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

On a {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop we just witnessed a whole lot of action. A player in early position had bet 1,250, Yorane Kerignard in the big blind had made the call, and Willie "The Dice Man" Tan squeezed to 5,250 from under the gun. His neighbor made the cold call, the player who placed the first bet folded, and Kerignard made the call.

Kerignard, who made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event this year (23rd for $286,900), checked once the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Tann bet 10,000 and the under the gun plus one player called again, with just 8,000 behind.

The {10-Clubs} fell on the river, making for an even scarier board, and Kerignard pushed all in. The Frenchman saw both his opponents lay their hand down, and he collected the chips.

Dangerous Danzer

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
George Danzer
George Danzer

George Danzer must be one of the most feared and respected tournament poker players in the world and returned from the WSOP in Vegas this summer with two bracelets amongst 7 cashes. The Team PokerStars Pro made it 500 from under the gun and waited to see what happened.

Six players including the blinds made the call and Danzer laughed, “That’s what I get for raising under the gun.”

“Seven players.” said the dealer before spreading {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Danzer had been all smiles but he put on his serious poker face before check-folding to action from two players. Perhaps they have him pegged as more of a mixed game specialist?

El Toro Quietened

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Kresten Nielsen finished third in this event last year amid a raucous final table and a rail chanting “El Toro” at him. He recently won a tentative hand with {a-}{9-} making a difficult call given the size of his stack. He has been chopped down to a third of his starting stack so there is a lot of work to do before we hear those chants again.
