Rivas Excited After Felting Leon

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Ercan Olgun bet 9,000 into a pot of around 25,000 with the {2-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} on the flop. Jose Rivas called before Sergio Garcia Leon raised to 30,000. Olgun folded and Rivas called after two minutes in the tank.

Leon bet 107,000 leaving less than 5,000 behind in his stack after the {8-Diamonds} paired the board on the turn. Rivas tanked for about five minutes before he raised. Leon called and turned over {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and was behind the {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} held by Rivas.

Rivas won a massive pot after the {a-Clubs} came on the river and shouted in joy for 15 seconds in Spanish.

Different Add-on Strategies

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

While most of the players thus far in the Main Event took their 20,000 chip add-on for €40 as soon as they sat down, some players opted not to.

One such player was Timofei Vekshin who recently lost all his chips. Rather than reenter for €800 for 80,000 in chips like some players have done today and Velkshin still may win up doing, he instead used his add-on and has a 10 big blind stack to try to spin up.

Hong Chips Up

Level 9 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Vladyslav Pohribinyi and Jinho Hong both checked the turn with 80,000 in the pot with the {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} on the board. Pohribinyi checked again after the {7-Spades} completed the board on the river and Hong fired out for 78,000. Pohribinyi tanked for several minutes before giving up on the hand.

Big Double for Razkouallah

Level 9 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Mohammed Razkouallah made a pot-sized bet of 25,000 after the {7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} came on the flop and got a call from Bakhtiev Ruslan. Rackouallah then jammed for about twice the pot for a total of 158,000 after the {3-Spades} came on the turn.

Ruslan asked for a chip count then tanked for another minute or two before he made the call.

Mohammed Razkouallah: {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Bakhtiev Ruslan: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Ruslan was in for a world of hurt with his top pair top kicker well behind the two pair held by his opponent. The {5-Hearts} on the river was unable to help Ruslan and he was left short on chips.

Meanwhile, Razkouallah became one of the chip leaders after the hand, something that wasn't lost on him as he yelled "Yes!" loud enough for anyone in the room to hear as the dealer sent the chips his way.

Century Count

Level 9 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

A total of 100 entrants have now entered Day 1a with 59 players still battling it out. This figure can still grow with 3 1/2 blind levels remaining before late registration closes.

Another Pot for Razkouallah

Level 9 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Mohammed Razkouallah bet 52,000 into a pot of 70,000 with the {4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} on the board and got a call from Dmitrii Vitugin. Both players checked after the {a-Clubs} came on the turn.

Razkouallah turned over {q-Spades}{7-Spades} and won the hand after Vitguin tossed his hand into the muck.

"I would have called if he went all-in," said Razkouallah to the table.
