Danny Warchol Eliminated in 10th Place ($6,027)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Danny Warchol
Danny Warchol

We picked up the action with a board of {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and action checked to Danny Warchol, who bet 40,000. Stephen Siska raised to 115,000 and Iverson Cotton Snuffer called. Warchol moved all in for 544,000 total and Siska thought for awhile before moving all in himself.

Snuffer got out of the way and Siska turned over {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Warchol needed to find help for his {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, but neither the {7-Spades} turn or {3-Spades} river helped and he hit the rail, vaulting Siska to the chip lead.

Huge Pot for Pupillo

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Nick Pupillo
Nick Pupillo

We just saw the end of the hand, as chips were being pushed to Nick Pupillo, coming from the stack of Ken Moore. The completed board was {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Pupillo had tabled {6-Spades}{4-Spades}. As it was told to us, the players got it all in on the flop and Moore's pocket jacks didn't catch up, giving Pupillo the huge double.

Warchol Gets Richer

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Danny Warchol
Danny Warchol

Doug Holland opened to 20,000 from the button and Danny Warchol reraised to 40,000 from the small blind. Holland made the call and the flop came {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Warchol bet 40,000 and Holland called to see the {4-Hearts} fall on the turn. Warchol continued the pressure with a bet of 125,000.

Holland called, leaving himself with just 67,000 behind. The {3-Hearts} came on the river and Warchol announced he was all in. Holland angrily mucked and Warchol took a big one.

Jivkov Bubbles

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jivkov on Day 1b
Jivkov on Day 1b

We picked up the action with the board reading {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Nick Jivkov checked to Stephen Siska, who bet 14,500. David Berman called and Jivkov moved all in for 48,500 total. Siska thought for a moment and then made the call. Berman folded and Jivkov tabled {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for top pair.

He was drawing dead though, as Siska turned over {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} for the turned set. Jivkov hit the rail just short of a payout.

Swartz Leads Final 46 into Day 2 of HPO Columbus

Daniel Swartz on Day 1a
Daniel Swartz on Day 1a

Welcome to Day 2 of the HPO Columbus Main Event. With 152 entries on Saturday and 142 entries on Sunday, the Columbus regional stop for Season 3 generated a whopping prize pool of $294,000, nearly thrice the guarantee.

Daniel Swartz comes into Day 2 as the chip leader, having accumulated a massive stack of 350,000 on Saturday’s Day 1a. Swartz will have some tough competition as tour regular Doug Holland took the Day 1b chip lead late in level 14 when his pocket aces held in a big pot against pocket queens. Holland is stacked at 283,500 and is followed closely by another tour regular, Ken Moore (266,500).

Other notables that advanced to Day 2 with big stacks are Ross Gottlieb (240,000), Danny Warchol (204,000) and Iverson Cotton Snuffer (183,500). Tour grinders Nick Pupillo and Nick Guagenti bagged a more modest 123,000 and 119,000 respectively, but the favorable structure should allow for plenty of play for them.

A total of 46 runners advanced and a good bunch will go home empty-handed, with payments going to the top 27. The top prize is $70,560 in cash + a seat in June’s HPO $2,500 Championship Main Event at the M Resort in Las Vegas.

The chase for the title starts at 12:15 p.m. local time, so stay tuned as we will bring you live reporting down to the finish.
