Smith Survives Again

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Andrew Jeffrey opened for 20,000 and Sam Smith moved all in for 64,500 from the small blind. John Moe folded from the big blind and Jeffrey said "good luck" to Smith as he made the call. Smith held {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Jeffrey {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. Smith stood up stating "I know how this is going to go" but he would be wrong as his hand would hold when the board ran out {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Smith doubled up to 140,000 in chips while Jeffrey slipped a bit to 240,000.

Jeffrey Doubles Through Moe

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

We got to the table with the board showing {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Andrew Jeffrey making a bet of 35,000. It was folded to John Moe who check-raised all in. Jeffrey mulled it over and decided to make the call with {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for top pair. It was a good call as Moe had {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for the flush draw and gutshot straight draw along with two overs.

The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} keeping Jeffrey in the lead and the river was the {2-Hearts} to give him a huge double up to 475,000 in chips. Moe dropped to 135,000 in the hand as he muttered "I had to" several times.

Smith Doubles Again

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Sam Smith has been surviving with a short stack for most of the evening and he doubled again just moments ago. He limped in first to act and John Moe made it 40,000 to go. Josh Burdick made the call out of the small blind and when it got back to Smith he moved all in. Moe folded and Burdick made the call. Smith had {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and was facing Burdick's {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

Burdick would take the lead on the {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop and nothing would change on the {7-Hearts} river. He would hit Broadway on the river though when the dealer put out the {J-Hearts}. Burdick shook his head in disgust as Smith doubled for at least the third time in the last two hours. He's sitting with a much healthier stack of 300,000 now.

Burdick Spikes River Miracle to Stay Alive

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

It was folded to Chris Hochscheid on the button who opened to 22,000. Josh Burdick called from the small blind and the two would both check the {9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Burdick checked to Hochscheid who put out a minimum bet of 10,000. Burdick quickly announced all in for 165,000 total and Hochscheid beat him into the pot as he had turned a full house with his {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

"Wow," muttered Burdick as he tabled {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for trip deuces. Only a queen would keep him in the tournament and that was precisely what the dealer put out as the river card was the {Q-Hearts}.

"Wow," Burdick said again, this time with glee in his voice. "I was ready to pack it up."

Hochscheid said nothing. He counted out the chips to pay off Burdick and pushed them to the dealer.

Smith's Limp With Aces Pays Off

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

On the last hand before the break, Sam Smith limped from the button and John Moe completed from the small blind. Chris Hochsteid made it 55,000 to go from the big blind and Smith snap-shoved for his last 167,000. Moe folded and after thinking it over for a bit Hochsteid said "I'm sure I'm way behind" and then called.

He was way behind as Smith had {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} which crushed his {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}. The board would run out {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Spades} to give Smith the double up and leave Hochsteid on fumes with just 33,000.

Chris Hochscheid Eliminated in 13th Place ($3,312)

Chris Hochscheid - 13th place
Chris Hochscheid - 13th place

After doubling up to move his stack back to a little more than 100,000, Chris Hochscheid opened for 50,000. Andrew Jeffrey asked how much he had behind and raised it up to 100,000 after getting an answer from his opponent. The rest of the table folded and Hochscheid moved all in. Jeffrey made the call and turned over {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades} which had Hochscheid's {A-Spades}{7-Hearts} dominated.

The dealer ran out a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} giving Jeffrey the nut flush draw to go with his better kicker. The turn was the {2-Hearts} and the river was the {8-Spades} and Jeffrey's jack kicker was enough to take the pot. Hochscheid finished in 13th place for $3,312.

Bryan Dillon - 12th place
Bryan Dillon - 12th place

A short-stacked Bryan Dillon moved all in first to act from the button with {Q-}{J-}. It was unfortunate timing for Dillon as Libby Wilson woke up with {Q-}{Q-} in the big blind. The ladies would hold for Wilson and Dillon was eliminated in 12th place collecting $4,244 for his efforts.
