Vance Uses His One Time

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Lee Vance
Lee Vance

Charles Maxcy called 20,000 from Lee Vance, who was in the cutoff on his left, preflop, and the two saw {4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} hit the felt. Maxcy checked, and Vance put his last 26,000 in. Maxcy got the counted and then tossed in a call.

Maxcy: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Vance: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}

"Come on baby, hold up on time," Vance urged.

He got his wish as the {3-Diamonds} and {6-Spades} hit the board. At first, Vance celebrated before remembering an important detail.

"Dammit, I used my one time," he lamented.

West New Top Dog

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
David West
David West

David West just doubled through Rudy Mamo in a hand with unknown action on a {2-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board. West had {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} in front of him, while Mamo's hand was already in the muck. According to one of the players, Mamo had flopped a combo draw with {q-Spades}{9-Spades}. West's 265,000 represented a sizable chunk of Mamo's formerly leading stack, and West is the new chip leader.

Renner Doubles Through Pupillo

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Trevor Renner
Trevor Renner

Jeff Greear opened for a raise and got a call from Trevor Renner. Nick Pupillo three-bet from Renner's left to approximately 35,000, and Greear called. Renner shoved all in, and Pupillo shipped as well, folding out Greear. Pupillo had the lead with {j-}{j-} against {a-}{k-}, but Renner found an ace-high flop and bricks on the last two streets to double.

Midena Gets Three Streets from Greear

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Tom Midena
Tom Midena

Jeff Greear raised to 19,000 in the small blind, and Tom Midena called in the big blind. Greear switched gears and check-called 19,000 on the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop, and he check-called 43,500 ore on the {7-Diamonds} turn. On the {a-Clubs} river, he checked and saw Midena bet 98,000. Greear tanked for a couple of minutes before pushing forward a call, and Midena turned over {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the nut flush, besting Greear's {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

Midena is one of the most accomplished players here, with several five-figure scores totaling nearly $400,000 on his tournament resume, as well as outright wins in WSOPC and MSPT events. He's now in prime position to capture another title.

Former Leader Greear Done

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Jeff Greear
Jeff Greear

Jeff Greear shoved for 123,000 and got a call from Neil Coughlin in the cutoff.

Greear: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Coughlin: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Coughlin missed the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, but a {j-Diamonds} turn gave him added outs with a gutter. The {a-Spades} was one of the cards he needed, and Greear, who entered the day with the chip lead but never seemed to be above where he began, is done.

Mamo Misses, Busts to Boyi

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Rudy Mamo
Rudy Mamo

Tom Midena opened for a raise in the cutoff, and everyone behind him called. The {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{k-Spades} hit the flop, and Joka Boyi bet 75,000 from the big blind. Midena mucked, but Rudy Mamo shoved all in from the button. The small blind folded, and Boyi snap-called, tabling {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a set. Mamo had {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for a flush draw, and he watched two black cards fall. Both were clubs though, the {5-Clubs} and {2-Clubs}, and lamented the table's inability to bust Boyi, who was down to three big blinds a short time ago.

Boyi Outflops Midena to Secure Final Table

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Tom Midena
Tom Midena

Joka Boyi opened for a raise in the cutoff and got a call from Tom Midena in the small blind. Midena, who started the hand with about 500,000, checked the {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop and then shoved over a continuation-bet. Boyi snapped with {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and he had flopped his two-outer against Midena's {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}. The {2-Diamonds} turn and {9-Diamonds} river meant Midena was out 10th, and players are redrawing for the final table seating.

Neil Coughlin Eliminated in 9th Place ($7,488)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Neil Coughlin - 9th Place
Neil Coughlin - 9th Place

Neil Coughlin raised to 32,000 in the small blind, and Kenny Zuspan defended. Coughlin bet 40,000 on the {7-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, and Zuspan raised to 115,000. Coughlin called, then checked the {3-Hearts}. Zuspan pushed 200,000 forward, and Coughlin announced all in. Zuspan snapped it, flipping {q-Clubs}{7-Spades} for top two.

"I'm drawing dead," Coughlin said, showing {7-}{6-}.

Zuspan had 456,000, and Coughlin was left with only about 100,000, which he lost shortly thereafter.

Wayne Smith Eliminated in 7th Place ($10,800); Freddy Hamad Eliminated in 8th Place ($9,072)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Wayne Smith - 7th Place
Wayne Smith - 7th Place

Freddy Hamad pushed all in from middle position for about 220,000, and Ken Foster called in the small blind. Big blind Wayne Smith also shoved for 237,000 total, and Foster called.

Smith: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Foster: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Hamad: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Smith grabbed the lead as the flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, giving him aces. However, the {8-Clubs} turn meant Smith went from leading to drawing dead, with only Hamad having a chance to overtake the set. The {6-Hearts} river wasn't what he needed though, and Foster scored an unlikely double knockout.
