Welcome to Day 2 of HPT Ameristar Vicksburg!

Defending Champ BJ McBrayer
Defending Champ BJ McBrayer

From a total field of 146 players, just twenty-one return for Day 2 action here at the HPT Ameristar Vicksburg $1,100 Main Event, with three more eliminations separating the remaining field from reaching the money.

Leading the remaining field is Sley Sanchez, who went on a late night tear to bring 652,000 chips into Day 2 play. The rest of the top 5 include Hannah Guthrie (380,000), Jimbo Hughes (333,000), inaugural HPT Ameristar VIcksburg champ Jay Bishop (326,000), and Yousef Saleh (315,000).

Defending champ BJ McBrayer (111,000) and his wife Morgan (74,000) both survived to make it through to Day 2, while the father-son duo of Judge Leo Boothe (279,000) and Wyatt Boothe (76,000) were also able to return for action today.

Other notables in play today include CT Hoffecker (256,000), Kip Jones (227,000), Corey Harrison (198,000), Shomari Williams (115,000), and Chad Chisolm (43,000), who will start the day as the short stack of the remaining field.

Cards will be in the air at Noon local time, and the final eighteen players will lock up a min-cash of $2,187. An appearance at tomorrow's Final Table guarantees a $4,100 payday, while the winner will earn $36,895 plus a $3,500 Championship Package for the HPT Season XV Finale.

Blinds will resume at Level 16 (2,500/5,000/5,000) with levels remaining forty-minutes in length. A fifteen-minute break will occur after every three levels, and play will continue until the official fine table of nine is reached, at which point players will bag and return on Monday, August 12th at Noon for the televised and streamed Day 3. Stay tuned to PokerNews as we get one step closer to crowning a champion here at Ameristar Vicksburg!

Chisolm First to Fall

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jason Riesenberg raised to 12,000 from the cutoff, then called a three-bet shove from Chad Chisolm in the big blind for 34,000.

Chad Chisolm: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Jason Riesenberg: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}

Riesenberg added a flush draw on the {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, and turned some chop outs on the {4-Clubs} turn. The {9-Spades} river completed the flush for Riesenberg, and Chisolm is the first player eliminated on Day 2.

Imarata Bubbles the Bubble

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Joseph Imarata in previous action

Joseph Imarata jammed for 74,000 from middle position, and Jaron Bailey tanked for a minute before calling on the button.

Joseph Imarata: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Jaron Bailey: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Imarata shook his head after seeing his pair was dominated, and the {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop gave him no immediate help. He picked up a few outs when the {6-Spades} turn opened up any three for a winner, but the {10-Spades} turn left him leaving the tournament area in a hurry.

Bubble Time

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

With nineteen players remaining and eighteen slated to be paid, we've reached the bubble of HPT Ameristar Vicksburg. Two minutes will run off the clock per hand during hand-for-hand play. Stay tuned as we find out who our unfortunate bubble boy or girl will be.

Doug Segers Bubbles HPT Ameristar Vicksburg

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Doug Segers jammed for 46,000 from the cutoff, and Jason Reisenberg called in the big blind.

"You've got me in bad shape," Segers told Reisenberg before the cards could be tabled.

Doug Segers: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Jason Reisenberg: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Segers needed a king to avoid being the bubble boy, but a {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} board failed to provide any help, leaving him as the last player to go home empty-handed from HPT Ameristar Vicksburg.
