Greg Raymer

Day 2 of the HPT Meadows Main Event is ready to kickoff at 11 a.m. local time. It will no doubt be a day of high-flying poker action, as a field of 47 will be whittled down to a final table.

Entering the day with the overwhelming chip lead is Calvin Snead with 652,000. The local player from Pittsburgh will be looking to continue to lean on the field and accumulate chips for what he hopes is a run to the final table. His stack is good for 130 big blinds to start the day and is over 200,000 more than his next closest competitor, Jason Mangold who holds 442,000 in chips.

Greg Raymer will start the day 4th in chips with 336,000 and will be looking to make a deep run and gather himself another big score in his poker career.

With the average chip stack around 170,000 which is 34 big blinds, the money bubble is expected to hit relatively early in the day as the top 27 players will be paid, meaning over 50% of the remaining field will find a payday.

Play will continue until a final table is reached, when the players will then bag up and prepare for a final day on Monday. The action will begin at level 16 with blinds at 2,000/5,000 and with a 5,000 big blind ante. Levels are 40 minutes in length, with a break scheduled for after every three levels. No dinner break is scheduled and will be determined by the players and tournament director if necessary.

PokerNews will provide all the big hands, dramatic eliminations and more as Day 2 climaxes toward a final table.

Snead Sends Wilson to the Rail

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Calvin Snead

Action was picked up on the turn with the board reading {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. After a check out of the small blind from Calvin Snead, Taylor Wilson was on the button and bet 48,000, Snead then raised all in.

Wilson thought for a couple of seconds but called fairly quickly and Snead instantly tabled the {10-Spades}{6-Spades} for the straight which left Wilson drawing thin as he showed the {9-Spades}{4-Clubs} for two pair.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and Wilson was shown the door with all his chips headed over to the big stack.

Casino Felted With Sixes on 66th Birthday

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Craig Casinp
Craig Casinp

Craig Casino was seen standing up at risk with {6-}{6-} pre-flop as he had run into the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} of Calvin Snead.

The board would not procure any sixes on what Casino said was his 66th birthday as it ran out {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and Casino was gone just like that as Snead nears a million in chips.

Snead Busts Delgros With Dramatic Turn in Largest Pot of Tournament Thus Far

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Calvin Snead
Calvin Snead

The flop read {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. It was a tangle of two of the largest stacks in the room. Out of the big blind, Ryan Delgros bet 40,000. Calvin Snead raised to 100,000 from the button.

Delgros waited a few moments before announcing all in. Snead went into the tank to think it over. After about 30 seconds he tossed in the the chips for the call.

Degros was ahead with the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} against the {k-Spades}{j-Spades} of Snead.

The turn changed everything when the {k-Hearts} peeled off. Snead jumped up in celebration while Delgros let his phone tumble to the ground in exasperation. The {3-Hearts} on the river confirmed the bust out and the dramatic win for Snead while Delgros could do nothing but walk to the payout table.

Cory Rutherford was in good position holding the {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} in a preflop all in vs the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} of Mike Iacovone, who was the one at stake.

But the flop flipped the hand on its head as it came {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, the turn was the {7-Clubs} and the river the {5-Diamonds} to leave Rutherford with only 4,000 which he got in a few hands later and was eliminated.
