Chris Moon
Chris Moon

In a three way pot, the flop read {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.Chris Moon bet 6,000 and was called by Roy Hanna and Donald Havener to build a hefty pot.

The turn was the {10-Spades}. Havener was first to act and checked. Moon moved all in for about 20,000 and was quickly called by Hanna. Havener got out of the way.

Moon turned over the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a set of tens and Hanna showed {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the straight draw. But the river would not complete the straight as it fell the {8-Spades} to give Moon the big pot and bust Hanna.

Rotholz Spikes King on the Turn

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

On a board that read {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} Hal Rotholz was facing a bet of 7,300 from Seat 5. He considered his options for a few moments and then pushed all in for his remaining stack of roughly 20,000. Seat 5 immediately called.

A couple exclamations from around the table were heard as Rotholz turned over the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} only to see his opponent in Seat 5 reveal the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. What looked to be a classic aces over kings situation was turned on its head when the {k-Spades} hit the turn to launch Rotholz ahead.

The river was the {8-Hearts} to finalize the big pot for Rotholz and bust Seat 5.

Last month, the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) visited the Hollywood Casino St. Louis for the first time, and the $1,650 Main Event drew 444 entries, which created a $646,020 prize pool.

In the end, 47-year-old criminal defense attorney Bill Byrnes emerged victorious to claim a $148,587 first-place prize.

“It was awesome,” Byrnes said after the win. “I was pretty comfortable the whole time. I came in third in chips today, which I felt good about. The guy that came in second, I’d been playing with the past couple of days, he was a hell of a player. I was definitely worried about him. There was a number of good players at the table but I felt comfortable going in. I’m going to take my wife to Europe, not sure what else to do with the rest.”
