Ace from Space for Holland

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Three players saw a flop of {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} with around 25,000 in the middle already. Doug Holland led out for 10,000 and Daniel Hummer flat-called, only to have Cheyenne Auterson shove all in for 52,000. Holland called and Auterson laid his hand down.

Doug Holland: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Cheyenne Auterson: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Auterson flopped a set of queens and was looking to double up late on Day 1a. The {j-Spades} hit the turn to give Holland a few more outs, and the {a-Hearts} on the river improved Holland to a better set.

Another Race Goes Hiudt's Way

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Joey Hiudt opened to 5,500 in early position and James Huffman called on the button. Jerry Martin was in the small blind and pushed all in for 44,000. Hiudt gave it some thought and eventually called while Huffman folded.

Joey Hiudt: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Jerry Martin: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

It was a race and Martin needed to connect with the board in order to stay alive. The dealer revealed the {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board which favored Hiudt and Martin was eliminated.

Big Double Up for Holland

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

In a five-way limped pot, the dealer fanned the flop of {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Joey Hiudt led out for 8,000 from the small blind. James Huffman called from under the gun and Doug Holland also called from middle position.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and Hiudt fired out another 25,500. Huffman folded and Holland min-raised to 51,000. Hiudt reached back for a three-bet to 151,000 only to have Holland move all in for 182,500. It wasn't much more for Hiudt to call and the cards were tabled once he did so.

Holland tabled {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Hiudt was left with one out to a straight flush, holding {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. The river was the {5-Spades}, the wrong suit for Hiudt and Holland scored a huge double up towards the end of the day.

Phan Wins the Battle of the Blinds

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action folded around to Donnie Phan in the small blind who bumped it up to 13,000. Doug Holland called from the big blind and the flop fell {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Phan led out for 11,000 and Holland called to see the {7-Diamonds} on the turn.

Phan fired out another bet of 11,000 and Holland still called as the {7-Spades} paired the board on the river. Phan checked this time and Holland quickly checked behind. Phan tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} while Holland showed the inferior {k-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Burchwell's Crumbs Turn to Dust

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Connor Burchwell opened to 9,000 from the hijack and Jeremy Brown moved his stack of 60,500 into the middle from the big blind. Burchwell asked for a count and went into the tank for over two minutes before finally making the call.

Jeremy Brown: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Connor Burchwell: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Brown was in a dominating position preflop and the board of {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs} provided a little sweat on the turn but Brown held on for the double up. Burchwell was down to just 14,000 chips after that hand and would go on to be eliminated shortly after.
