After a week's worth of prelim events, it's time for the 2019 Heartland Poker Tour The Meadows $1,100 Main Event to get under way just outside of Pittsburgh. Thursday will see the first of three starting flights kick off the $250,000 guaranteed Main Event, with subsequent flights scheduled for Friday and Saturday before fields combine for Sunday's Day 2.

Last year, Mike O'Neill topped a field of 422 to pocket $93,340 and a $3,500 HPT Championship package.

For this year's event, cards are scheduled to fly at 2 p.m. local time for the opening flight. Players will receive 30,000 in starting chips and begin at Level 1 (100/100), progressing to Level 15 (2,000/4,000/4,000) or until 13 percent of the field remains. Big blind ante begins in Level 4.

Registration remains open until the start of Level 10 and players may reenter as many times as they wish.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for live updates throughout the course of play.

Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Adam Friedman isn't wasting any time here at HPT The Meadows as he's already in there on Level 1. Friedman has $2.5 million in tournament cashes and certainly ranks as the most recognizable player here in the early going with just a few tables pitching cards on Day 1a thus far.

Callahan Flops the Nuts Early

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

From the big blind, Keith Callahan bet 2,500 on a board of {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. His opponent under the gun called the bet and they saw a {k-Clubs} arrive on the river. Callahan fired another barrel of 6,000 and received a call after about 30 seconds.

"Straight," he announced, tabling {q-Clubs}{10-Spades} for the flopped nuts.

Kienzle Turns a Set

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

After one player called, Adam Friedman made it 400 in the hijack and received two calls before the big blind made it 1,000. Friedman called, as did the other players, making it four ways to {5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

The big blind bet 1,000 and only Trapper Kienzle, on the button, continued. On the {10-Spades}, the big blind bet 2,000 and Kienzle made it 7,000. She called and they saw the {6-Diamonds} river. The big blind led out for 1,000 and Kienzle quickly called.

The big blind showed {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}, the second straight hand she showed down aces, but Kienzle had hit a two-outer on the turn with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

Friedman Fires Thrice

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

With 3,800 in the pot, Adam Friedman bet 1,500 from the big blind on {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. One player folded but another in the hijack called. Friedman bet again with 2,200 on the {j-Diamonds} turn, and he put in a third barrel of 3,000 on the {3-Diamonds} river. Finally, his opponent gave it up.

Davis Shows the Nuts

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

There was already 5,800 in the pot between three players, and the first two checked to a player in middle position, who bet 3,600 on the {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades} board. Tony Davis woke up with a check-raise to 9,100 out of the big blind. That chased the squeezed player, and the bettor thought about 15 seconds and mucked.

"You wanna see?" Davis asked.

His opponent just shrugged, but Davis showed the {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for the nuts.

Scaglione Rivers Top Pair

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

With 3,500 in the pot on a {3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop and three players in the action, Chuck Scaglione check-called a bet for 2,100 and the third player folded. Heads-up action checked through on a {4-Hearts} turn, and the river brought the {a-Spades}. Scaglione led out for 2,800 and his opponent called.

Scaglione tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a rivered top pair and his opponent quickly sent his cards into the muck.
