Edward Blazer

Day 2 of the HPT Ameristar East Chicago $1,650 Main Event is set to kick off at 11 a.m. local time, as 89 players return from the original field of 520 players, with the goal being a seat at the nine-handed, nationally televised final table, which will also be live-streamed at the HPT's Twitch channel. Day 2 will feature one-hour levels through its duration.

The final 54 players will all earn a piece of the $748,800 prize pool, with a min-cash worth $3,205. Making it through to Day 3 guarantees a payday of $14,906, while the eventual champion will take home $171,411, along with a $3,500 Championship Package.

Edward Blazer is the current chip leader, sitting with 463,000 in chips. Some HPT heavy hitters lurk just behind him, as 2015 HPT Player of the Year Reginald "Shawn" Roberts (436,000) and defending champ Nick Davidson (430,000) sit just behind Blazer in the counts. Dale Hackney (424,000) and Robert Keeling (422,000) round out the top five.

Roger Campbell (347,000) brings a healthy stack back for Day 2, and other notables returning include 2018 HPT Player of the Year Aaron Johnson (305,000), former HPT Ameristar East Chicago champ Gary Herstein (289,000), Ravi Raghavan (148,000), Mike Shin (116,000), and Michael VanderWoude (70,000).

Baird Rivers Orlowski For Monster Pot

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Greg Baird
Greg Baird

On the turn of a {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{3-Spades} board, Greg Baird had his last 267,000 at risk from early position, and Jeffrey Orlowski had him at risk on the button.

Greg Baird: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}
Jeffrey Orlowski: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Orlowski was ahead with his kicker, but Baird had an open-ended straight draw, as well as a four, to draw to. The {6-Spades} river completed Baird's straight, and he earned a huge double, while Orlowski was left with just under two big blinds.

Jeffrey Orlowski
Jeffrey Orlowski

Greg Baird raised to 13,000 from early position, and Edward Blazer three-bet to 40,000 from the cutoff. Jeffrey Orlowski four-bet shoved for 44,000 from the small blind, Baird folded, and Blazer called.

Jeffrey Orlowski: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Edward Blazer: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}

Orlowski's eights held on a {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades} board for the double. Orlowski, who had just 10,000 in chips a few hands ago, doubled up again a few hands later with his ace-eight holding against the ace-six of Kenneth Baime, and Orlowski now has a comfortable stack of nearly 200,000.

Raymer's Turn to Double

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

Greg Raymer checked an {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop from the small blind over to Robert Keeling in the big blind. Keeling simply moved all in to put Raymer at risk for 225,000, an overbet of the 90,000 currently in the pot.

Raymer tanked for a few minutes, while Keeling took a sip of his beer, then eventually called the clock. Raymer called a few seconds into the countdown.

Greg Raymer: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Robert Keeling: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Keeling needed an ace, jack or eight to burst the bubble, but the {6-Hearts} turn and {k-Hearts} river gave a big double to the former WSOP Main Event champ.

Herstein Falls to Gutfreund

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

Gary Herstein raised to 27,000 from the small blind, and David "The Maven" Gutfreund called in the big blind.

Herstein bet 35,000 on the {j-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, and Gutfreund jammed. Herstein snapped off his last 150,000 total.

Gary Herstein: {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
David Gutfreund: {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Herstein's two pair were up against the flush draw of Gutfreund. Gutfreund picked up a straight draw on the {5-Spades} turn, and he binked the {3-Spades} river, giving him a six-high straight and sending the former HPT Ameristar East Chicago champ to the rail.
