Hopkins Fires on All Cylinders

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Kevin Hopkins opened to a sizable 34,000 from under the gun six handed, and the others folded around to Patel in the big blind, who grabbed calling chips, put them back, then verbalized a call, throwing in the rest.

Hopkins continued for more than the pot—100,000—when checked to on {9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and Patel called fairly quickly.

Patel checked again on the {j-Diamonds} turn, and Hopkins went all in. Patel quickly folded, leaving him with about half of the chips that he returned to from break.

Last Break of the Night; Schedule Change

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Players are off on their final fifteen-minute break of the night. HPT Tournament Director Jeremy Smith has informed players that one more level will be played. If the field is reduced down to ten by the end of the level, play will continue until the official final table of nine is reached. Otherwise, play will conclude at the end of Level 21.

Freddy Williams Eliminated in 13th Place ($11,307)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Freddy Williams
Freddy Williams

Hamid Izadi checked a {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} board from the big blind, and Freddy Williams bet 100,000 into a pot of 160,000 in middle position. Izadi check-raised to 200,000, then snapped off Williams' three-bet shove for 305,000.

Freddy Williams: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Hamid Izadi: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Izadi's aces-full had Williams drawing dead before the {5-Clubs} river hit the felt, and Izadi breaks the two-million chip marker with the victory.

Burns' Two Pair Bests Patel's Two Pair

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

James Burns raised to 36,000 on the button, and was called by Paul Bianchi in the small blind and Neil Patel in the big blind.

Action checked to Burns on the {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{a-Spades} flop, and he bet 60,000. Only Patel called.

Both players checked the {j-Clubs} turn, and Patel bet 125,000 on the {k-Hearts} river. Burns called, and after Patel tabled {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Burns rolled over {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and took down the pot.

John Michalak raised to 45,000 from under the gun, then called a three-bet shove for 360,000 from Dan Wagner in the cutoff.

Dan Wagner: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
John Michalak: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Wagner's sixes got no love on a {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} board to send the Season XV HPT The Meadows champ to the rail.

Chip Leader Chips Up

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

With 11 remaining, fairly deep at an average stack of slightly more than 60 bigs, players are treading lightly for the most part. Chip leader Hamid Izadi and John Michalak had another heads-up hand, though, and it went like this:

Izadi opened to 35,000 in the cutoff, and Michalak flatted on the button. The flop came down {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, and Izadi check-called 45,000.

Both players checked quickly on the {6-Hearts} turn, and Izadi led for 80,000 when the {a-Clubs} fell on the river, texturizing the board more than any other card in the deck could have. Michalak gave it up, and Izadi pulled even further ahead of the field.
