On the river of a board , Matthew Smith pushed forward all his big chips to bet the pot against Petr Svoboda, who had 43,900 behind. Svoboda gave it some thought and called all in.
Smith tabled for a busted gutshot and flush draw, while Svoboda secured the double with for a set of aces.
Netanel Amedi raised to 2,500 off a shorter stack and picked up no fewer than three callers including Jesper Hougaard, Alexander Norden on the button and Ran Azor in the small blind. Maksim Shuts folded and quickly ran out of the tournament area even before the flop fell .
Once the action checked to Norden, his bet forced three quick folds and he claimed the pot.
Shuts was back in his seat soon after and raised, Amedi three-bet the pot and shut down all further action.
Half time has been reached on Day 1a and there are 80 players out of 100 entries remaining. They have been sent into a 60-minute dinner break and the action will resume at approximately 9.20 p.m. local time. Another six levels of 40 minutes remain for the day.
Ran Azor check-called a bet of 3,000 by Mark Berente on the turn and led the river for 6,000. Berente called and Azor tabled for top set, but Berente had that beat with the for a flush.
One hand later, Berente raised to 3,000 and picked up four callers including Alexander Norden, Azor, Maksim Shuts and Ilyaz Dosikov. The flop brought no betting action and Azor bet the turn for 11,000. All opponents folded and Azor flashed for a straight and a flushdraw.
Irena Macesovic raised and Mauro Gustamacchia tossed in a chip behind. Macesovic then wanted to repot, claiming her opponent had repotted. Gustamacchia called for the floor and with the explanation of other players at the table, it was ruled as just a call.
Macesovic then min-bet the flop and Gustamacchia called. "What are you doing to me?" Macesovic joked and they checked the turn, Macesovic then check-folded the river to a bet of 5,000.
In the meanwhile, Warm Up winner Richard Toth has re-entered and sat down next to Macesovic.
