Day 1a Started

Welcome to Day 1a of the 2019 The Big Wrap!

The PLO Big Wrap is back in Rozvadov
The PLO Big Wrap is back in Rozvadov

At 4 p.m. local time, the King's Casino and Resort in Rozvadov welcomes poker enthusiasts from near and far to showcase their talents in the great game of Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO). For the second edition of the Big Wrap in 2019, four-card specialists will be heading to the biggest poker room once more and may be back in a few weeks time when the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe takes place near the border to Germany.

The flagship event of the PLO festival comes with a buy-in of €2,350 of which €2,200 will go into the prize pool and a guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000 awaits.

In the April edition, a field of 412 entries emerged to create a prize pool of €1,078,440 and it was Spain's Lautaro Cabrerizo that defeated Finland's Lauri Varonen in heads-up to claim the top prize of €209,221. Among others, Tomasz Kozub also made it to the final table while Yves Kupfermunz fell just short of that and finished in 10th place.

All participants receive 100,000 in chips and both Day 1s are scheduled to play a total of 12 levels of 40 minutes each. There will be a break every three levels and all players can take advantage of two re-entries per starting day. The registration and re-entry period also remains open for the first two levels on Day 2.

The €550 Warm Up attracted a field of 450 entries to create a prize pool of €213,750 and 13 players returned to the final day earlier today with Richard Toth, Jonas Kronwitter, Paresh Doshi and Manfred Ronacher among those still in contention. At the time of writing, there were eight players remaining with Barat Botond, Norbert Burkhard and Giovanni Salvatore already on the rail.

Many of those that made a deep run in the Warm Up are also expected to join the action of The Big Wrap and the PokerNews team will be on the floor to provide all the action from start to finish.

Two for Henschel

Level 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Yves Henschel scooped two early pots, one of which came against Peter Muhlbek. On the river of a completed board of {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, he bet 1,500 and Muhlbek folded. The previous two streets had been checked through.

One hand later, a three-way pot emerged that also included Tomasz Kozub. It was Kozub that bet the {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs} river for 300 and Henschel called. Kozub turned over {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for jacks and sixes, but Henschel had that beat with {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} for aces and sixes.

The Talk Shows Blocker

Level 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

In a battle of nicknames, Borritoo limped in first to act and The Talk in the cutoff raised to 400. Rulaz on the button made it 1,700 to go and was called by Arpad Koevecses in the small blind and Borritoo.

On a {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, the action checked to The Talk and his bet of 7,000 won the pot, he showed the {a-Diamonds} for the nut flush blocker.

Small Pot for Albeck

Level 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Mauro Gustamacchia on the button called a raise by Samuel Albeck in early position and they headed to a {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, on which a bet by Albeck was called. Albeck also bet the {3-Spades} turn for 1,500 and Gustamacchia called. After the {9-Spades} river, a third barrel by Albeck did the trick to scoop the pot without resistance.
