Ilari Sahamies
Ilari Sahamies

The day ended early for Finnish poker legend Ilari Sahamies. We only caught the end of the hand but he got it in for 35 big blinds preflop with {j-}{j-}. Sahamies ran into an opponent holding {k-}{k-} and the board was unable to save him.

Martynas Valantiejus was down to 15 big blinds. He open-jammed from the cutoff and was called by Radovan Kakulos on the button.

Martynas Valantiejus: {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Radovan Kakulos: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Valantiejus was behind in the hand preflop. The {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop gave Kakulos top pair but also opened up a flush draw for Valantiejus.

The {7-Spades} on the turn and the {6-Spades} on the river were both blanks for Valantiejus. He shook hands with Kakulos before leaving the tournament area.

It's a New Record!

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Kings of Tallinn
Kings of Tallinn

A final figure of 375 entrants has been confirmed to enter the Kings of Tallinn Main Event to create a €356,250 prize pool. This absolutely shatters last year's record of 268 entrants by more than 100.

Congrats to the organizers of the Kings of Tallinn as well as the host Olympic Park Casino for monumental achievement.

Alakorva Eliminated on a Flip

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Veli-Pekka Alakorva
Veli-Pekka Alakorva

Veli-Pekka Alakorva, also known around Finland as simply VP, is known for wearing his emotions on his sleeve and being loud in almost every big hand whether winning or losing.

He was just unusually silent and instead it was Antti Tapani Tuomi being very loud due to the behavior previous history the duo have had on the tables.

We caught up with the pot after the preflop betting and 100,000 in the middle after Tuomi turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Alakorva turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

The {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop was a safe one for Alakorva. However, the {j-Clubs} came on the turn and this is when Toumi could be heard anywhere in the poker room. The celebrations continued for Tuomi both before and after the {k-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and Alakorva silently walked out the door.

Koplimaa Down to Crumbs

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Markku Koplimaa
Markku Koplimaa

Otto Ivar Viking Lundbergh jammed late position with {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for 21,300 and was called by Estonian poker pro Markku Koplimaa with {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

Koplimaa was looking good to chip up especially after the flop came {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

However, his opponent paired up and he did not after the {q-Clubs} came on the turn. The {10-Spades} on the river was unable to help Koplimaa and he was down to around 10,000 in chips.

Kokk Eliminates Jorstad

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Jack Sinclair and Espen Uhlen Jorstad
Jack Sinclair and Espen Uhlen Jorstad

Janar Kokk opened from late position before Espen Uhlen Jorstad jammed for 18,600 from one seat over. Kokk called and both players were off to the races.

Espen Uhlen Jorstad: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Janar Kokk: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

It was looking bleak for Jorstad after Kokk nailed a set on the {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop. Jorstad was drawing dead after the {k-Clubs} came on the turn despite hitting a pair. The {5-Clubs} completed the board on the river and Jorstad's Main Event run was over.

Meanwhile, Kokk has been chipping up all day and now has healthy stack of 150,000.

Urbonas Hating Tens

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Mantas Urbonas
Mantas Urbonas

We just saw Lithuanian poker pro Mantas Urbonas leaving the tournament area. He shared with PokerNews how his Main Event crumbled.

With a stack of around 80,000 he four-bet jammed with ace-king and couldn't outflip and opponents ace-ten. A couple of hands later, he jammed his remaining 10 big blind stack with nines and once again ran into tens and couldn't improve.

Urbonas, who is relatively fresh off a fourth-place finish in the Battle of Malta, said as he was leaving that maybe we would see him later a side event.
