Short Stacks Battle

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Latvia's Pauls Vebers got down short on chips before he open-jammed nine big blinds on the button. Lithuania's Edvinas Urnikis, who was also nursing a relatively short stack, called from the big blind.

Pauls Vebers: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Edvinas Urnikis: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Vebers was behind before the flop and hit the rail after the {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Spades} board was unable to save him.

Over on the feature table, Lithuania's Aleksandras Rusinovas was eliminated when his {a-}{10-} couldn't get there against an opponent's {a-}{q-}.

Pietila Doubles Off Racinskas

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Leo Tapani Pietila jammed for 112,000 from the button and was called by Martynas Racinskas in the big blind.

Leo Tapani Pietila: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Martynas Racinskas: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Pietila was out of his seat and started packing up after his opponent hit top pair on the {5-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop. He didn't slow down his departure despite the {j-Hearts} giving him hope with a gutshot straight draw.

The {10-Clubs} came on the river to give Pietila a straight and he promptly sat back down.

Racinskas couldn't believe his eyes and visibly showed his frustration in losing the hand.

"Wait a minute," said Racinskas to the dealer as he was gathering the cards for the next hand. "I want to take a picture of this."

Volodtsenkov Doubles with Kings

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Andrei Volodtsenkov opened to 24,000 from late position before Julian Adamson three-bet all-in more than covering his opponent's stack of 174,000. Volodtsenkov snap-called and turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and was in good shape against Adamson's {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Volodtsenkov was still ahead after the {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} came on the flop. He was shouting for a five on the turn and instead a harmless {q-Diamonds} came.

His prediction skills got a little better. He shouted for a nine on the river and he called his card with the {9-Diamonds} completing the board. After the hand Volodtsenkov breathed a sigh of relief as he stacked his chips.

Racinskas Folds Queens Preflop After a Long Tank

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

A player min-raised from under the gun. Jari Saviaho flatted from one seat over before Martynas Racinskas sitting next to him three-bet to 48,000.

The action folded back around to the original raiser who promptly folded. Saviaho tanked for a minute before he declared himself all-in.

Racinskas looked like he was in pain and asked for a count. The dealer counted and told him that his opponent had 448,000, which more than covered the about 350,000 that Racinskas had to start the hand.

One minute went by, then two, then three. The tank went on for a total of seven minutes. Racinskas finally asked if I fold and show will you do the same.

He then open-folded {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and we will never know if he would have won the race or not with Saviaho turning over {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.
